Reminds of the old quote from Rocky's trainer, when asked by Rocky, after round one against Appollo Creed and a broken nose to boot, how said nose looked like. Mickey to answer:" It looks better than before!"

Thankfully it isn't quite as noticeable as in the picture. It's mostly visible from one side. Still handsome..

For Parros.

For my Greek brother.

Get well.

(I'm more handsome in real life)

Yes it does because we were winning those fights we had HUGEEE momentum till parros went down that killed it. Trying to argue otherwise is ridiculous, hell even I had momentum

Arguing it is not ridiculous. It is debatable though.

Didn't "fall", was pulled down

Look again closely at
:
- orr's feet before & as he falls
- orr's body twisting before/as he falls

Judo, plain and simple.

Meanwhile, TSN game recap "loses balanced stepping on a glove"...
Look at the glove, doesn't get touched until long after both players go down...
Rush to paint it as freak accident without looking at it closely,

Forget injury
Forget outcome

Just look at the fight & what each guy was trying to do before going down... These aren't high school kids, they understand balance & weight manipulation.

Orr threw parros to the ice using his own falling (self directed) body weight for leverage

Judo

I totally agree, you can clearly see that Orr draws Parros on ice

why is PK laughing... that bugs me a bit.. the guy (Parros) comes to defend you and while he's fighting.. your up there and laughing.. I'm a huge PK fan but ... maybe if he would have let Orr go.. nothing would of happen... Man I feel sick to my stomach.. same feeling i had when Eller and Pacioretty were knocked out!

FCS Do you really think PK was aware of what was happening?

Yep, he not only is a locker room cancer, he cheers when his teammates are injured.

I hope he's ok. Orr looked shocked, it wasn't even a fight just a slight tussle and a misstep and he fell awkwardly on his face. This happening in game 1 obviously isn't what you guys expected from him. I hope, like you, that he recovers quickly and plays as much as possible for you guys. It was a scary scene. I hope he's ok.

Leafs fan coming in peace.

Best wishes for a speedy Parros recovery. Definitely not right to see him eat ice after winning his fight.

Off-topic, but what a great pick Gallagher was.

I don't think he's got a broken jaw. I've watched the replay over and over and he's talking. You don't talk with a broken jaw. A broken jaw is the most painful thing ever and you can't do much else but be in TERRIBLE pain. I know because I broke mine and they had to wire it shut and I ate thru a straw for 2 months. Playing baseball in the summer, I was a pitcher and I got popped by a batted ball in the face. I got into fights in hockey, got sticked in face, got rammed into boards... I never felt pain like that again.

So I'm thinking he's got serious teeth damage and a concussion.

Parros was a force out there tonight. He did everything right, played hard, won his fight against Orr, kept Orr from Subban and was the victim of poor luck.

He's exactly what the Habs needed and they played bigger with him out there.

Freak thing, it happens, hope he recovers quickly and completely.

Habs need an exorcism. Price needed to be traded during the off season. That being said, whatever curse the Kennedy family has against them also is evident in this hockey club. You can rest assured that the ghosts that were at the forum have not signed off at the Bell Centre. The Molsons need a good priest.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing tonight. They need a priest to take some holy water and chase away whatever demons occupy this place; I think the habs' ghosts are too afraid to enter.

Habs should scour Verdun boxing/MMA gyms for a huge 28 year-old thug who knows how to skate, then pay him league minimum to just jump over the boards and beat the crap outta guys.

Seriously, why bother with pretense? Having your fighter go out and play five shifts is like the cheesy pizza guy at the door in 1970s pornos, everyone knows that's not what he's really there for.

I don't want Prust, Tinordi or even Moen fighting heavyweight goon/enforcers, Habs scouts please get down to Verdun.

Scary, hope Parros makes a full recovery. But this was bound to happen, hopefully it coming in the first game of the season stimulates a big discussion on the place of fighting in the game, especially as our division is shaping up as the main arena for fighting. Yes hockey is a contact sport but it isn't a combat sport.

Christ.

Fighting always has had a place in the game and always will... People who play the game know why it's there and why you have tough guys. As Josh Gorges himself said: "I see more players get hurt from hits, collisions, from pucks, than I do from fights," said Gorges.

"I don't think saying because a player got hurt in a fight that now we have to talk about taking fighting away. And I bet that if you ask George (Parros), he'll be the first to agree with me on that one too."

You get paid a million bucks (or more) a year and you accept the risks of playing in a league that issues 5 minute penalties for fighting.

If the Nancy's don't like it, don't watch...I'm sure there's a soccer game or OHL game that has what you're looking for....

Nah it will be gone in a few years or sooner. The only reason it still continues is that the greedy NHL will do anything to attract new fans, folding bareknuckle boxing into their product shows how little they care about the people working for them.

Maybe we could pay them two million and have them fight above a tank filled with sharks with lasers on their heads? Fighting has become a sick sideshow.

Stop for a second and think, doesn't it seem a bit weird to suggest that people who prefer hockey over fistfights shouldn't watch hockey? Or should I say "If the Louts don't like it, don't watch...I'm sure there's a boxing or UFC production that has what you're looking for...."?

What if it were Tinordi smashing the ice tonight and his career ended because of this idea had to prove he wasn't a "Nancy"?

And yet we still lost..

Fighting does not change a thing.

if you don't understand how Parros changed the game tonight, you shouldn't be posting here, so please stop doing it and keep watching hockey in your living room and whining to your fat and ugly husband

Those "points" you made show that you have absolutely no grasp on why fighting is important in the game.

NHL players want it there as they continue to vote it in there. I'm sure you know better than they do... Right?

And again fighting is a part of the NHL - always has been. Because YOU don't like it, why should it be changed? Players want it, the majority of fans want it, why should they bend to your minority Viewpoint?

Sharks with ****ing laser beams, you anti fight Nancy's are incredible.

You just suggest I'm clueless? Don't you even counter points bro?

I know that most (two-thirds and rising) Canadian hockey fans oppose fighting, and these are the people who buy the tickets with the money used to pay the hockey players' salaries. Survey That's one way of looking at it.

Also young children shouldn't be watching bloodsports during prime time.

Also it lowers the game to neanderthal level.

And here's another survey that disagrees completely with the one you posted:

http://www.environicsinstitute.org/...onics-institute-hockey-canada-2012-survey.pdf

It's much more in depth, and demonstrates that the "majority" of people who want fighting out of hockey are the people who aren't watching or have little involvement in the game.

And as far as children not watching in prime time???? LOL have a long look around pal, you'll find a lot more murders, *****, assaults with weapons etc on television than at a hockey game. Not to mention the violent video games they are likely playing ala Grand Theft Auto. Save your poor children argument for your bleeding heart brethren.

First of all, I'm happy to see that Parros is tweeting. I hope we have more good news about his health in the next few days.

About fighting, I gotta say that the general consensus on HFBoards is a polar opposite of what I hear in "the real world". Seriously, I'm going to leave it at that : you guys that are for fighting to stay are years behind. Society has changed a lot in the past few decades, fighting isn't as acceptable as it once was and we scientifically know how harmful these blows to the head are. Time have changed, don't live in the past.
