Since joining the Canucks in 2019, JT Miller is 10th in league scoring

He’s not a name you think of when you think “top 10 forwards”, but the numbers are what they are. Clearly he’s been one of the most productive players in the league, and it’s not like he’s out there between McDavid and Matthews posting those numbers. Some players are just workhorses who get the job done while others are going through hot and cold streaks.

That's

I follow hockey for 30 years and there was never any real hate towards Vancouver.

Man, I dunno about that. It was clear at the time and in retrospect that the Luongo-era Canucks climaxed as one of the league’s intensely hated teams.

It really says a lot that the 2011 Bruins briefly became something of a darling for beating that team. The 2011 Bruins were an easily hateable team in their own right, with guys like Lucic and Marchand and Chara and Ference and Campbell, but the Canucks managed to engender even more hate.

No clue what actually happened then. Are you talking about that street crap after the finals? I guess you overestimate the importance of your team to non-Vancouver fans. No one actually cared.
Go make a poll about the most hated teams of the last 15 years, I guarantee you that 2011 team is top 3. Would actually put some money on it.

His contract has always been good

I wanted him desperately last year and half when Canucks managment/fans wanted to give up on him

Would have been an insane upgrade on Tavares
Couldn't give him away on the trade boards lol. Teams missed the boat on him. Canucks fans also undervalued him massively. I was a fan of the contract because I thought it would come in at 9-10 mil. That would've been a good deal at this point.

Dude has a laser for a shot, showed it tonight on his goal. One of the more underrated releases in the league when he’s got it going.

Could realistically climb to 8th by the end of this season if he outscores Chucky and Rantanen.

Would be one of the best 5 year stretches for a Canuck ever.

At this point he's very clearly been the Canucks best forward this season (Pettersson, despite leading the league in scoring, doesn't look great, Tocchet has confirmed he's playing through an injury and it shows).

I might even go as far as to say he's been the MVP of the team, however Quinn Hughes has also been great himself.

Miller is just doing everything for the Canucks, both offensively and defensively.

The reason why Canucks fans hated the trade so much at the time was because the team had just finished near the bottom of the league the past 4-5 seasons. Teams in that position don't usually trade 1st round picks for win now pieces.

It's definitely panned out in the long run though.

Great start to the season for Miller. A few things to consider:

  • Miller's production is occurring despite being on the line that is hard matched on the road.
  • His line-in being used to shut down the visitor's top line at home.
  • In a reversal to prior seasons—the Hughes pairing is starting most of their shifts with Miller, rather than with Pettersson.

I hated Miller for years.

Couldn't be happier to be totally f***ing wrong about him. Dude is a beast. Gets a little hot around the collar sometimes but I like that lol. How his contract ages is still a question mark but the Canucks can cross that bridge when they get to it. They should be going for it now, and with the way he's playing, he's worth every penny.

remember when the majority of HFboards said the Canucks would have to pay at least a 1st if not multiple 1sts to dump him?
That's HFboard for you, they don't know the value of players lol. Imagine having to give up multiple 1st round picks to trade one of your best players:laugh:

Tochett has been the perfect coach for him. Miller has been the best forward on the Canucks this year and he and Pettersson give the Canucks a one-two Center punch that are great in both ends of the ice.

HF in a nutshell:

late 1st > JT Miller. That 1st could be anything, it could even be a JT Miller! Think about what you could do with a future JT Miller and that cap space. You could sign your new JT Miller with that same cap space!
