At this point it is a definitive win for Montreal. PK was always grossly overrated as was backed up by back to back player's polls. Throw in his self promoting nonsense that his teammates can't stand compared to the reverence showed to Weber league wide by his peers and it will take a major injury to turn this trade into Subban's favor.

I wouldn't put ZERO stock in player polls but I don't know if I'd use that as primary evidence of his play. He was good more often than not besides that last year with us. And those polls MAY have been tinged by how disliked he was.

I used to think the rumours of PK's locker room behaviour were BS but now I think I've changed on that. I used to think it was just him having a BIG personality.

And the people who think that stuff doesn't matter are wrong. You just can't say that that CAN'T have an effect on a team.

It's funny that this move was the last straw for a lot of fans yet it's really not controversial to say that it looks like a win right now and at the very worst it's been a wash. I was neutral on it at the time though I still didn't really like the optics of it since I wasn't sold on him potentially being 'bad in the room'.

Definitely merit though to saying we could've gotten a better package for PK though. Yet still I think it's disingenuous to back peddle and say we still lost the trade because we could've gotten more. I think that's a step too far.

I think he may have had a small hand injury just because he wasn't really getting the same velocity and he wasn't moving the puck well at all. Could have just been the rust too idk. Looks pretty damn good right now though.

I think we should always try and learn to give players like Price and Weber a bit of leeway instead of jumping right to 'well I guess they're done'. I think they've earned that bit of patience. I'm not saying I wasn't worried with Weber but I did think that it was a bit of him shaking the rust off.

I did think there was a very good chance that he'd age better than PK. So far that's looking like a real possibility.

We should trade him while his offense is this good.

I'm not against it but I'd rather wait a year or two and I know that that's risky but I want to see what we have with guys like Romanov, Brook, Fleury, Struble, Norlinder etc. He would leave a big gap and I personally think that with a couple key holes being filled and the youth getting better we could be in the thick of it sooner than later.

I'm not sure Oilers have enough to give up, I'm looking more at Colorado who could definitely use a seasoned solid guy like him on their back end. They have some good prospects to spare, especially on D.

Good point, as long as we don't end up with Jost. Not a fan.

Look at the Mountain Man in NHL 95

Nice. Although, that's some freakishly high rez NHL '95 no? An emulator instead of the real thing? I thought the real thing was on SNES, maybe it was N64 after all.

We're not gonna see another one like that. Watched it live, told people at work about it today lol. A real "moment".

Jarry got caught sliding too far off his post and Weber has a 10 foot reach...but still... that wrap around... that was insane!

Well with his point tonight the Man Mountain is now sitting 5th overall in points.

He’s having a Norris caliber season. Who knows where he would be if we had a LD to play with him.

Guy is a stud still at 34. Best captain the franchise has had in a long time and I think his presence alone while all these important kids are breaking into the NHL for us will be invaluable for them.

When he was acquired, Shea was often described as a guy who was just a PP specialist who slaps pucks. I was surprised to see this morning that not only is he 3rd in goals and tied for 5th in points for all D, but he is actually SECOND in the league behind only Carlson for even strength points!

WHAT??? :)

What's interesting with Weber is he never played on a team that had a top 10 offense/PP. Even the Preds had trouble scoring when he was with them. I'd be very curious to see what he can do on a cup contender with a potent offense and actual top 2 centers.

Seeing him be this offense minded is pretty darn impressive, it's like he's reinventing himself at 34. He wasn't even playing like that back in his Kelowna days, not as a young Dman with the Preds either. This was never his game and he's doing it now somehow.

With all due respect, I don't think Weber is "reinventing" himself. The biggest issue is the whole war on Subban vs Weber and how each side tried to deflate tires to prove stupid points. Weber is still the same guy we acquired 4 years ago and it's reasonable to assume up/down production years in his 30's

I'm strickly refering to game style, he's been pinching in a lot this year, skating deep into the offensive zone, etc. This wasn't his M.O early in his career but he's having a lot of success doing it this year. He was always smart and he could always make plays, just not in the style he's making them in 19-20.

I remember when Weber trade was made. Bergevin took a lot of bad talk on here. Turns out he made right move. Shows why GMs are GMs and fans are fans.

Fair I guess. I just think his value and ability was deflated due to who we traded to get him and several Habs fans settled that he was no longer a top pairing quality. The year he is having this year is no surprise for me. I expect more up/down production years.

"When you are offered Weber, you don't ask for more". It's interesting to see how some still hate Bergevin and will stop at nothing to justify it. I'm not so sure he takes us to a cup but he's done a decent job. Definitely some mistakes he likely regrets and I do believe he has learned a lot over the 8 years.
