It was the smartest play available. I'd rather see guys peel off and try for a cycle than do something stupid trying to play hero ball. Our system doesn't really give guys a lot of options most times.

Agreed. However, DW can sell ice to an Eskimo. Also, maybe it’s a change of sceneary that he needs? I don’t think he just fell off that quickly.

This is his third decline year, but he wasn't THAT bad the last two years. Played like a middle-ish pairing guy over his head on the top pairing.

To be fair, I don't think he's quite as bad as he's been this year because he's really fallen off this year. He's probably a little better or at least more serviceable than he's shown so far.

Unless Doug plays nice guy or Vlasic has a bounce back for a year and he's fooled by it, I think he's an amnesty buyout (assuming there is one) in the next CBA.

There are forwards with bad contracts, too. Vlasic for Kane.

As in Patrick Kane? I don't see why the Hawks would do that.

They might do it for Seabrook though, who has been a worse defenseman than Vlasic for much longer, but also has less remaining term.

That usually happens. I feel like having 2 mediocre defensive offensive black holes not on the ice for 25 minutes was helpful.
