It's a long tournament, so Chabot will get his chance eventually. My guess is that they use him as a power play specialist early and see how he does...
Sweden's Lias Andersson got a four-game ban for throwing away his silver medal at the juniors, so he'll miss Sweden's first games. A few other players and coaches as well (Dahlin included), but as I understand it just for youth tournaments so without an impact here and now
The player suspensions are as follows:
- Forward and team captain Lias Andersson is suspended for the first four games of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship.
- Forward Axel Jonsson is suspended for the first two games of the 2019 IIHF Junior World Championship.
- Forward Jesper Boqvist is suspended for the first two games of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship.
- Defenceman Rasmus Dahlin is suspended for the first two games of the 2019 Ice Hockey U18 World Championship.
- Goaltender Olle Eriksson Ek is suspended for the first two games of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship.
According to this article: IIHF - IIHF Disciplinary board decision
Lias Anderson is too old for the 2019 world juniors
Jesper Boqvist is too old for the 2019 world juniors
Dahlin oddly was not suspended for the 2019 world juniors but the 2019 U18s . He'll be too old
only Olle Eriksson Ek can't play in the 2019 World juniors.
Unless this was a mistake in reporting it seems pretty ridiculous

I agree its something to express the displeasure with what I think is disrespect for the organizers and the opponents .. it just seems a little out of touch to suspend players for games they can't play but not in all instances..Still, it looks good on them. Guaranty you would never see a Canadian boy doing this!
White moved to the 1st line with Kane and Gaudreau! Wow!
Sure, maybe they are just trying to spread out the offense by putting Larkin on line 2, but Ryan is a 40 pt center in his own right. Shows a lot of confidence in him by USA hockey.
all morning ive been like.. who the f*** is Ryan.

sportsmanship is the worst part of sports..like the handshake at the end of the series.. so dumb..It's called sportsmanship and not being a poor loser.
Disagree 100%, as would most who've played, as well as haven't, I would imaginesportsmanship is the worst part of sports..like the handshake at the end of the series.. so dumb..
there is no poor loser. theyre not saying 'NO THATS NO FAIIIIRR" theyre saying " this medal means nothing to me" who is anyone else to say " no kid, youre wrong.. you look at that medal right now!"

i was kind of an a-hole in sports admittedly. but i dont think the kids should be forced to put the medal on.Disagree 100%, as would most who've played, as well as haven't, I would imagine
what he did is not disrespectful to anyone else. if i won silver and i tossed it, its not like im looking at my teammates who DIDNT toss it in disgust. its yours, your earned it, you do what you want with it. my teams have come second in tournaments before. i didnt watch him toss that medal and feel insulted by it.He may not take pride in winning that medal, he may feel it's meaningless to him, but tossing it the way he did is disrespectful to all the players who did take pride in their accomplishments. He can feel any way he want's about winning silver, but to do so the way he did is immature, childish and outright disrespectful to the tournament, and all those involved.
It really is, no way around that. I know nothing tell change your mind though.what he did is not disrespectful to anyone else. if i won silver and i tossed it, its not like im looking at my teammates who DIDNT toss it in disgust. its yours, your earned it, you do what you want with it. my teams have come second in tournaments before. i didnt watch him toss that medal and feel insulted by it.
