Post the poem about the barges or the river or whatever again

With pleasure!

"A Tragedy" - Theo Marzials

Death!
Plop.
The barges down in the river flop.
Flop, plop.
Above, beneath.
From the slimy branches the grey drips drop,
As they scraggle black on the thin grey sky,
Where the black cloud rack-hackles drizzle and fly
To the oozy waters, that lounge and flop
On the black scrag piles, where the loose cords plop,
As the raw wind whines in the thin tree-top.
Plop, plop.
And scudding by
The boatmen call out hoy! and hey!
All is running water and sky,
And my head shrieks -- "Stop,"
And my heart shrieks -- "Die."
My thought is running out of my head;
My love is running out of my heart,
My soul runs after, and leaves me as dead,
For my life runs after to catch them -- and fled
They all are every one! -- and I stand, and start,
At the water that oozes up, plop and plop,
On the barges that flop
And dizzy me dead.
I might reel and drop.
Plop.
Dead.
And the shrill wind whines in the thin tree-top
Flop, plop.
A curse on him.
Ugh! yet I knew -- I knew --
If a woman is false can a friend be true?
It was only a lie from beginning to end --
My Devil -- My "Friend"
I had trusted the whole of my living to!
Ugh; and I knew!
Ugh!
So what do I care,
And my head is empty as air --
I can do,
I can dare,
(Plop, plop
The barges flop
Drip drop.)
I can dare! I can dare!
And let myself all run away with my head
And stop.
Drop.
Dead.
Plop, flop.
Plop.
Death!
Plop.
The barges down in the river flop.
Flop, plop.
Above, beneath.
From the slimy branches the grey drips drop,
As they scraggle black on the thin grey sky,
Where the black cloud rack-hackles drizzle and fly

I just fired up my browser and came here to log in... but I couldn't because for some reason it was showing me logged in as another user. I thought someone hacked me and changed my user name. WTF.

Anyone remember when TTEOT accidentally outed his alt account which was just to comment on how genius TTEOT's posts were?

I missed that part.

I definitely remember his misty-eyed screeds on the greatness of Alex Ovechkin and the mighty Washington Capitals, though.

As far as I know, he never came back. Or maybe he's still posting under a different name. It was pretty amazing.

I also remember his posts in his "capacity as a doctor" saying that Sid was basically brain-dead after the first concussion. Those sure aged well.

Oh lawd. I had forgotten about that.

I've seen some weird ones come through but that boy just wasn't quite right.

The funny/sad thing is maybe even his fake credentials as a doctor would have turned out just as useful as the Pens medical staff was at the time.

Hell, maybe he actually is a doctor and is on the Pens' medical staff. It's as good an explanation as any.

Mumps? No, Sidney Crosby doesn’t have mumps. Next minute.....

Hahaha... seriously... that picture is near iconic, to me. It just sums up so much when it comes to this team and it's health and how it reports on it's health.

All my other relatives/siblings are engaged. Loving the disappointment I'm getting from my parents that I'm single and living on my own. Not easy for everyone...

Someone explain how Adam Driver is still called an ex marine.

I once studied to be a lawyer but I left to do something else. So can I say I was an ex lawyer?

Because dude was going to be a marine and then got hurt on a bicycle ride before he was deployed. So really, but not really.

So he makes a good headline by saying "Marine to Actor..."

Is that the jist of it?

It's not like he left in the middle of boot camp; he was a Marine for over 2 years. You don't need to be deployed to be a member of the military. I wasn't a teacher long enough to get tenure, but I'm still an ex-teacher.

Your teacher bit has more weight to it than his claim to being a marine.

I have friends that served. That are marines and not some Lance corporals. I see why that angle is popular in the America media. But yeah....

He was a Marine for about 6 months less than I was a teacher. Again, you don't need to be deployed to become a Marine. Worth making a big deal out of? Probably not. But it's just factually wrong to say he wasn't a Marine. He was.

Yeah, he's definitely a Marine. Not the same thing as a combat vet but 2 years is plenty long enough.
