He's not a 50 point player though.

He had a hot streak at the end of last season riding the coattails of Barkov and Dadonov

I wonder if this means they are finally done trying to re-create HBK. I like the acquisitions, but neither of them should be centering Kessel barring injury.

Do we allow this behemoth to ride shotgun with Guentzel and Sid?

I'd stick Bjugstad right with Kessel.

He has a Bonino like game. I just don't want Bonino at 4.5 mil.

Does McCann play any center?

To me it looks like the Pens got younger, gained cost control with McCann and increased offensive potential. I will wait to see the rest of the deal, but I like this on first pass.

That's the part of the deal i like.

McCann imo makes this a good deal. Didn't know we also got him.

McCann at 3C, put Bjugstad with Malkin.

Not sure this makes us a better team this year.

I think it gives Sully more flexibility and more talent. Bjugstad is better than Sheahan and McCann is young and has talent. Whether the pieces fit or not is up for debate, but I like the move on paper.

Edit: a 2nd and 2 4ths makes this a pretty good deal IMO

Keeping the 1st was huge

So this trade probably means we arent going after Ferland, No? Mcann at C and Bjugstad at wing doesnt leave any space for Ferland.

So if the plan is to play Bjugstad at wing then I would think they are out of the running for Ferland..

someone beat me to it

At the very least, we got rid of our two most Vanilla forwards. That alone is a huge positive.
