I doubt he'll be a center in the NHL, but this is a junior competition. If Russia wants to have a better chance of winning, they should use him as their 1C. He might lose some extra face-offs, but does it really matter? Why would you rather have mediocre top 9 centers with scoring wingers? You are going to hurt their offense.

Russia's forward lineup should be this

Denisenko-Kravtsov-Kovalenko
Marchenko-Morozov-Kostin
Chekhovich-Shen-Starkov
Yaremchuk-Khovanov-Muranov
Nikolayev

That lineup makes no sense. Bragin will utilize 3 offensive and 1 defensive line. Khovanov on the 4th is useless And why break up Chekhovich-Khovanov and Starkov-Shen-Yaremchuk combinations?

Denisenko - Kravtsov - Kovalenko
Chekhovich - Khovanov - Kostin
Yaremchuk - Shen - Starkov
Nikolayev - Morozov - Muranov
Slepets

These combinations are from warm up tournaments. Those don't matter. If Russia doesn't want to utilize their best players in big roles, they can once again not compete for gold.

Russia doesn't have the same talent that teams like Canada have. If they want to be able to compete, they should make sure they put their best players with the best talent around them to be able to have a lot of success. Morozov is a better player than Khovanov. If you want to put Khovanov in the top 9, move Shen down to the fourth line. Yaremchuk on the 3rd line and Marchenko not on the team makes no sense.

Judging by the practice lines, you got the current Bragin's idea for the Top9, but for the 4th line current situation is that it will be Muranov-Galimov-Slepets.

The last 3 years, Russia lacked offensive firepower in the WJC. Slepets is one of the most offensively talented forwards in this age group. He is short, but powerfully built and is not afraid to go into the goal crease to make plays, a quality that has been lacking in many cases. I hope to see a Muranov-Galimov-Slepets line in the lineup.

Alexeyev took a big hit (Dirty one too imo) here in Red Deer last night. Possible concussion as he went head first into the boards, he may not be available. Be a shame too as he is a really talented player.

Playing in Russia he would be at camp. Just saying.
And there is a question why he is not while selected. Look at soccer, when Brazil preparing for a championship or qualification, all players from Europe come.

Everything is a slight against Russia for you eh? lol. Just quit it man, there's no conspiracy, there's no best development road for players (players are individuals). Seems like every time you can you blast the CHL or Canada or America. The injury was just unlucky.

Unlucky? The video shows clearly that it was more than just a matter of "luck!"

It was a bad hit, and thankfully he seems to be ok.......but as other people have posted, this could have happened anywhere. That was a complete overreaction.

No one in Red Deer wants him to be hurt. We know how important he is to the Rebels season.

Kanitsky, Malyshev, Tsitsyura and Khabarov cut off.
24 players are going to Canada where they will meet CHL guys and probably Podkolzin.
So we have 29/30 players, 3 goalies, 10 D, 16/17 F
