We need to do everything we can to land Nylander IMO. He's exactly the type of player we need to play with Draisaitl. Im not sold on Rattie with Mcdavid, so Yamamoto could be bumped up. I dont know what Toronto would want but would this get us close?

To Tor: Puljujarvi, Benning, Sekera, 1st

To Edm: Nylander, Dermott

Lineup:

RNH-Mcdavid-Rattie
Lucic-Draisaitl-Nylander
Cagguila-Khaira-Yamamoto
Rieder-Strome-Kassian
Chiasson, Brodziak

Klefbom-Larsson
Nurse-Russell
Dermott-Bouchard/Bear
Garrison

You can't trade injured players in the NHL.

I like the idea of using the Sekera LTIR at the deadline for a rental of a decent top 6 winger. We have two third picks this year (Isles) so package one with a prospect and a player who needs a change of scene trade.

You can as long as the other team knows the player is injured and is fine with the trade. If not Columbus couldnt have traded Horton for Clarkson. Also saw in the Pronger to Arizona deal a few years back.

Either way, why would Toronto make that trade? They need defense. It would not make any sense for them.

Looks like some leaf fans are warning to a Nylander for a D trade

Of course they are. Their team's scoring at a 5 goal/game pace and Tavares seemingly will never not score in a game. Life is grapes and honey for them right now.

They WILL hit a cold streak eventually, or someone will get hurt. Then we'll see if they still consider Nylander an expendable asset easily jettisoned for "D help".

Would love Nylander to play with Drai, but a) we dont have anything to offer that they want and b) we can't pay 8.5 to him just can't afford it

Even without their O being this hot, I think they're 1st in GF, 31st in GA.

Because Benning for all his faults is actually not that bad. Sekera can hopefully take Gardiner's spot next year if healthy. Oiler's 1st is most likely a non playoff pick. And Puljujarvi helps them up front and is cost controlled. I think the real stickler for them in the deal would be Dermott. DOnt think they'd want to move him, but him and Mcdavid are BFF's.

Toronto can't afford Sekera. ELC bonuses will be massive for Matthews and Marner, so Sekera on LTIR will cause them to cap out this year and every bonus would be applied to next years cap.

we need D men not Offence.

Wrong, we need PMD AND offence. We traded away all our winger depth and it shows. Jersey ran our show because we can't transition, and our forwards can't make more then two passes. Dermott and Nylander set this team up nicely going forward. They also give us a lot of flexibility with that forward group. If were down by a goal late we can just alternate shifts between a RNH-Mcdavid-Yamamoto line and a Puljujarvi-Draisaitl-Nylander line. Provided Puljujarvi looks good on LW.

If Yamamoto doesn't get on the board tonight Laurent Dauphin is an interesting name on the waiver wire.

So how long until we trade for Nylander? Would also love to add a dman like Parayko or Ekblad. Eitherway this team needs some major changes. Chia has absolutely sewered us with bad trade after bad trade.

How about never? The Oilers don't have the cap space anywhere in their future to add an $8m winger to their forward group. Nor did they before the current GM 'sewered us'. The Oilers are going to have to make due with the current talent they have on their wings, which is probably one of their smallest concerns currently considering where our current prospect depth lies.

Get your head out of the clouds.

Maybe we could make a deal involving klefbom and a prospect for Nylander then turn around and make a deal for parayko for lucic and a first and a prospect . I know any move is just a dream but one can still dream right

LOL, you said we had talent on the wings!! It's clear as day this team has no talent on the wings. Losing Maroon has left an even bigger whole this year. It's unacceptable to be this bad with the best player in the world.

But look at that sweet sweet return we got. :sarcasm:
