Thanks guy, guess if they are moving McBain it would be for something other than Del Zotto, but the Rangers could use a right handed power play guy.

I am assuming Buffalo is looking for picks and prospects so instead of Del Zotto what kind of pick do you think could get McBain?

McBain is not in Buffalo's long term plans.

He wa a throw in for the Sekera for pick #35.

going into next year the feeling is Talinder wont get resigned (likely traded) and McBain likely not resigned.

Going into next year they would have on D: Ehrhoff, Myers, Pysyk, McNabb, Weber, Ristolainen, Zadorov, and McCabe is expected to turn pro after this years NCAA season ends, and they will be looking at Gauthier-Leduc who is similar to McBain in that offensive PP specialist ype of player.

They may not even tender McBain and offer.

If they would trade McBain for picks---id say maybe a 3rd + low pick.

The issue coming up will be contracts max of 50 in the 2014 and 1015 summer.

Anything to do with the Amerks' vet limit?

Buffalo only has 6 Dmen on their roster. They needed to call someone up.

Im sure the vet limit was a factor in calling him up. also the team needs someone who is more designed to sit in the press box. A vet is used to that.

So @RSandersonWHTK says it looks like Alex Sulzer's headed to Buffalo. McCormick to IR, maybe?

Speaking of young checking centers... Zack Smith?

Also, if MDZ is the centerpiece of a Zibanejad trade I'm throwing my laptop through a wall.

If Dreger's rumor is true that Backlund is available, they should be in in him. Center, d-zone starts, and solid possession guy considering.

We need both actually. We have exactly one top 9 center ( Hodgson).

I don't necessarily disagree, but I wouldn't give up more in a deal for Schenn when you could have Backlund and his much needed possession/two-way abilities for probably a lot less was my point.

I'm all for aquiring Schenn, but I'm not willing to pay the price for him that many others are. Although I'd be ecstatic if we could somehow fleece Homer and get him for non-essential pieces. I mean it is Paul Holmgren were talking about here

So hypothetically, if you were Sabres GM.... do you consider dealing Miller to the Islanders and helping them out this season? If so, does it influence the sort of return you would demand?

Personally, while they fit the need and could likely use Miller most of any team since they need to even get back to playoff position unlike say St. Louis or Anaheim where Miller is more like a finishing sauce on an already five-star dish. However, with their struggles, I wouldn't be willing to try to help them out. *shrug* Find another home for Ryan unless Snow really goes full Milbury with an offer, let the Isles sink and reap the eventual rewards.

Was going to say that the only way we would "help" then by dealing Miller there would be if we got some sort of real sexy offer.

Any deal with the Islanders (and most teams, IMO) for Miller needs to start with their 2015 first round pick.

From the Islanders, it would have to be something that they don't want to give up... but I don't think Snow is stupid enough to take the wraps off his contingency and give the Sabres both this year's and next year's first rounders for two rentals.

As for everyone else... I suspect you are going to be very disappointed by the return if the 2015 first rounder is your expectation.

is the answer jesus

If we're able to get Nelson back in a deal for Miller I'd be fine with the resulting higher pick.
