Flyers have to keep him I guess because they spent so much on him especially when you add the cost to ditch Gostisbehere. They wont get near to that at the deadline.

You never know. If they start next season healthy maybe Risto bounces back. But, I suppose theyll trade him if he wont re sign. They'd have to trade him at the deadline. No one is doing a sign and trade for him.

Running a team with that mindset is dumb as f***.

The guy has played 5 AHL playoff games in 9 years since coming to North America

not pinning that entirely on him

just thinking he is built for playoff hockey is a bold claim.
He doesnt play structured hockey and constantly finishes his check almost always taking himself completely out of the play.
And he sucks 5v5 both offensively and defensively

Maybe Tampa to see his full potential on a good team. Maybe Florida.

Philadelphia:
1st 2022
Cal Foote
Otto Somppi

Tampa:
Ristolainen (50% retained by Philadelphia)

If my team signed him to that contract i wouldnt watch them until he was gone. Ill also change my opinion of our GM if he trades for him at the deadline. Neither of those things will happen so... I dont even think he is an NHL caliber player. I have no idea what Philly has seen in him over the last year ti trade for him all those futures now offer him this.

I know +/- isn't the be all end all stat, but man this guy has been on some bad teams, he must be close to the all time leaders at -171

I bet that he'll want to sign a prove-it deal as a bottom-pair guy for a great team. This seems like a guy that wants to finally play for a contender.

He's not signing a prove-it deal with anyone. Bogo signed one because he was realistically on his last leg.

Risto is doing fine and just turned big money. There's nothing to prove.

Note: I strongly dislike us trading for Risto and I think he's a 4th D-man on a good team. But this idea he'll graciously sign a "prove-it" deal for someone at 1 mill/1 year is *crazy*

The fact that people cant tell if its 6.4 per or over sums up Ristolainens NHL career pretty nicely.
He plays like a 6.4 over 3 years player but apparently is viewed as a 6.4 per year player by some GMs
Buf signed him at 5.4 6 long years ago. So far only Risto believes he is worth 6.4
A late 1st would be great return.

Perfect spot for Rosti is Dallas.
That's the number that dallas wants klingberg to sign for.
