Seems like the post loss depressions last less and less everytime. Sucks to lose, but at least the games are watchable now and there’s plenty to be happy about the team. Nico looked like a franchise player and Blackwood continues his elite play. To sound as less pro-tanking as I can, I guess games like these are optimal if we can’t make the playoffs and want to draft as high as possible while still being able to enjoy the games.

They’re a playoff team. While we are what? A caller dweller with fancy toys and a dumb ass as a GM that wouldn’t know a good coach if he was birthed by one.
Yes they are a playoff team . I never said otherwise , but it is all in part to luck and having a stud head coach.
I hope you are not implying that Lou has done better than Shero in their new gigs .

Boqvist is looking more and more like Jacob Josefson type prospect lately .
I hope he proves me wrong

He's not made of glass and can actually win board battles. He looks like a really good 3rd liner that needs time to develop. Light year better than a guy like Joey Anderson or Talvitie who people have odd obsessions with. He will be fine.

Good teams play down to their competition all the time. The Rangers are beating the Avs, I guess the Avs are overrated.

@Bleedred

Can you start keeping track of how many goals and assists Severson has for the other team. Today he was quite impressive with a 1 and 1 effort.

Generational coach. Their lack of talent will be exposed in the playoffs.

Oh?

I didn't know Trotz was on the ice.

Not meaning to be a dick 'cause I do know what you're saying (as I'm hoping we get Lavi as a Head Coach and he can be our "generational coach", too) but you can't have sour grapes like this about a team just 'cause they beat us.

I dislike the Isles and their fans, too.

But I'm not going to purposely ignore the obvious and that they are where they are for a reason and that they CAN go pretty far in the postseason.

Personally, I see them making the 2nd round (bare minimum) but the ECF at the MAX 'cause I don't believe anyone will beat the Caps again.

Yes, I think they are as well. They remind me a lot of Toronto. High flying offense with little defense to speak of and a bit of a questionable goaltending situation. Usually not a recipe for success in the post season.

When we play the avs or the isles, it's not like Boston or Washington. Those teams play down to us too, but it's still so clear that they are so much better. They not only have the structure, but the talent as well. They can cruise for 50 minutes and still win by 3 and carry play without breaking a sweat.

I seem to remember you with some pretty sour grapes about the avs

I don't know what to say if you don't think the coach makes a world of difference. We should know better than anybody what a difference a good , or bad, coach makes. And anyway, I can have sour grapes cuz **** the isles and their "fans".

Feels good to care about hockey again.

They aren't "bad" per se, more like absolute fools gold. They are coached by one of the best ever and can plug and play spare parts to succeed. You think that team is 2nd without Trotz? You think that team is in the playoffs without Trotz? I doubt it, myself.
Honestly this makes no sense whatsoever. They've had a top 5 year 2 seasons in a row and won a playoff series. "Fool's gold" is nonsense talk because you simply can't bring yourself to give them any credit for being a good team. Standings don't lie.

I usually get pretty irrational when I care. It's good to care again. I'll step off of Fools Gold, but will maintain they are overrated and I do believe the standing are telling at least a little white lie.

Hamburglar 3.14 played with heart and confidence. Give him a better defense in front of him and you have a .920 goalie to my eyes with how he is playing.
Save percentages are down this year, so .920% while playing as a starter would be a really good year.

I think his drop off this year is mainly because he went from playing as a backup/every other game goalie to a starter and a very heavily used starter at that, due to non-competent backup goaltending here.

Most goalies in the league do see a drop off when going from a more sparsely used goalie to one with a more expanded role.

And replace him with ......

Someone that doesn't have a ten-cent brain.

Severson's the most maddening player on the team because he should be one of the best defensemen in the league. But because his hockey IQ is barely above zero, he is what he is - a middling second-pair defenseman prone to killer gaffes. As bad as the rest of our defense is they don't turn it over in the high-danger areas quite like Severson does.

Zacha's another waste of talent too for that matter. Both of them can take a ****ing hike.
