Glove Malfunction
Ference is my binky
I suspect that's the sentiment of the entire team...
Yeah. By all accounts he was a great locker room guy, in his own quiet way.

Agreed.Kampfer probably just a throw in. The picks are the real return of the trade.
Someone said it in here...This deal cannot be judged until we see what (if) Sweeney does anything with the cap space. To be continued....
YupYou're going to really hate hockey in the next 5-10 years.
As it stands McQuaid was sitting in the pressbox when we were all healthy.Garbage deal by Sweeney unless he's bringing someone else in and needed the money.
Especially if the Rags end up trading Quaider to saaaaay Pittsburgh at the TD. That would make Sweeney look BAAAAD!Please keep track of anyone who previously told me a 3rd was no big deal for Rinaldo because it's such a crapshoot at that point in the draft but who now tells me how valuable a 4th is.
There was a log jam at D (still is), this saves cap room and gives the Bruins more assets to work with. I am merely guessing, but my thinking is that DS would like to be in the position to spend X dollars at a specific time, rather than hoping to sell off just to make things work. He's an intelligent guy with a smart group around him, I bet they have eyes on a few things and this is a move that needed to happen if they want to achieve those things down the road.
Sucks for us not knowing what all the moving parts are in the scenario, but that's business. Going to miss Quaider.

I think the deal was McQuaid for a 4th... not awesome, but have to think he'd been shopped around. That might be the best deal going currently. Kampfer likely a contract limit part of the deal. Also someone we can send down to Providence with 0 cap hit.
My guess... coaching/management might think one of the prospects is ready.
Sweeney and Cassidy are wimps even by current standards, sad what this team has become. But, hey, we got Grizz and Moore so it will be okThis team is going to get pushed around all night.
McQuaid and Boychuck are two different players, but wondering if the similarities of trading two well liked and respected players at season start will have the same negative effect on team chemistry.
Well, you have me shrugging too. I'm just trying to make sense of it in some sort of logical sense (whether people agree with the logic or not).As it stands now, they haven’t even started preseason. Lots of things (and injuries) can happen
Zero urgency to do this deal now unless there is more coming.
WrongThat shipped sailed years ago in the NHL. Love the player but he served a minimal role in today's NHL. Overrated requirement.
So I hate this trade a lot. Value wise, it's actually there. A 4th for McQuaid seems like a pretty standard return. MAYBE you get something a little better at the TDL. I just hate dealing McQuaid at this point. Bruins have stressed depth on defense for the past 2 seasons and just dealt it away after strengthening it with the Moore signing. However, if this deal was made to free up cap space to bring in another player, then I understand it more. Also, @BruinDust brought up a great point, and one we may never find out, but if McQuaid requested a trade because he wants to play, I understand it as well.
On the return, the 4th and conditional 7th seem standard, as I said above. Kampfer is nothing more than an AHL player when he's on a good team, so I expect him in Providence. He doesn't help much on the backend. He's small (5'11'') and not good defensively. He can move the puck, but we have enough of that already.
Bruins have been playing Zboril on the right side more. So maybe this trade opens up more of a chance for him to get looks this season?
