To be fair, Nashville was a top ten offense just two years ago, and they had the best power play in the league all season. The only real changes to the forwards since then are the departures of Erat and Kostitsyn (Sergei wasn't playing all that great anyway). There were also the two seasons after the 2004 lockout when the offense was pretty good, only to be wrecked by a fire sale initiated by a terrible owner trying to lower the value of the team before selling it off to acquire another team.

With that said, this year's top six looks pretty thin at the moment. If Wilson and Forsberg play up to their potential, Stalberg improves with a chance of scenery and larger role, and the rest of the guys contribute then they could produce some offense. That's a lot of "ifs", though. Too many for my liking.

And then you have to look at the inexperience on the blueline. Weber and Josi looked absolutely beautiful together last season. Klein is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated defensive defensemen in the entire league. After that you have a highly touted rookie who has yet to prove himself (Jones), an inexperienced defender who has shown flashes of good play but obviously needed to adjust to the North American game (Ekholm), an offensive specialist who lacks size and needs to continue improving his defensive game (Ellis) and a guy who looked all right last year, but only has 24 NHL games under his belt and is benefiting on the depth chart due to a lack of LHD (Bartley).

Oh and Rinne had to have surgery on his hip.

It'll be interesting to see how they look tonight and tomorrow.

I was more referring to the fine... I dont think another Coach would have been fined which irritates me a bit

I love it as well. This is something we have NEEDED here in Colorado for so long.

I think that had nothing to do with him being Roy. Yelling is one thing but he went a bit too far imo. Other coaches would have been fined for that, too.

Edit: Too far according to the rules, I mean. I still love what he did there.

Is Rinne going to be in net against us at all?
TML opened the season with back to back games as well and split the two starts between Reimer and Bernier.
Probably because it's more of a 1A/1B situation but considering Rinne is coming off a hip surgery..?

Avs could be real killers to teams on the 2nd night of back to backs. Usually teams are at least slow out of the gate in those games, so come out firing on all cylinders as maybe the fastest team in the league and you can bury them early.

You dont? One of the biggest things talked about when he was hired was if he could keep his emotions in check. I could totally see the NHL wanting to set the tone early on this kind of stuff with Roy.

That is the way I take it. The NHL is trying to stop it early because of Roy's reputation. The thing the NHL isn't banking on is that Roy really doesn't care. I don't think a single fine ever stopped him in the Q.

Carter Hutton was a really good goalie here in Rockford.

I believe he has only played 1 NHL game, but I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a successful backup in the show.

Also, any reason why Stalberg is a scratch? Is he injured or something?

My favourite thing about all of this talk of "Childish Roy" is almost every game in MLB the manager comes out screaming and spitting in the umps face, nobody says a thing. It;s what they're supposed to do.

But I wont say anything on the main board, everyone will pull out the "Lolz MLB is a joke"

I could see the league wanting to go ahead and get Roy on their radar with a fine. However I highly doubt they were just looking for any reason. Had he stuck to simply yelling and not getting physical, even if it was just with a piece of glass, I doubt they would have fined him.

I'm torn because on the one hand I am opposed to acts of violence in sporting events just for the purpose of getting revenge or sending a message and Patty certainly is not, but Roy has been one of my favorite people since I was a kid

I wonder if this would have been a fine if the glass partition was secured properly... That thing looked like it could have been blown over by a light breeze...

Yeah Stalberg has a shoulder injury and will be out for a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I remember them finishing top 10, more of an anomaly than anything else. I still think you have a good team, it's just that the offense doesn't inspire confidence. As usual you will rely on Rinnie, Weber and Trotz fantastic system. WIth that you will always be a ***** to play against.

Never liked Forsberg's game, there's a reason he was traded by the caps this early for not exactly a star player.

Filip Forsberg is out as well for the next two games at least

Load off my mind.

I love Patrick Roy and I loved everything he did last night. However, he didn't push the boards just once, he pushed it twice. He went over the top and received a fine. Is it because he's Patrick Roy? We'll never know. But let's not kid ourselves here, he went a little over the top. Was it good for our team, dressing room and player morale? Of course, but the NHL is a business. Keep doing what you're doing Patrick!

with what happended with Roy last night , not many medias are talking about MacKinnon and his very impressive first game in the NHL . Tomorrow will be the first MacKinnon vs Jones match since the 2013 Mémorial cup and it's gonna be a great game . can't wait to see what will happend and i'm pretty sure that there will be a lot of mémorial cup talk and vids during the game .

Tomorrow is the first real test to see how different they are this year. Coming off a big win, in the past few years they've had a lot of let downs. They're playing a team that's going to be coming off a game the night before, so they need to take advantage of it.

NSH rallying hard. Could be that chippy team that scores goals at the right time.
