Really hoping this doesn't end up being remembered as the summer in which Chia traded Brad Marchand but kept Chris Kelly (all for an additional 1.5 million in cap savings.)

Krejci for 1st overall is really interesting and Krejci's one of my favorites... Dougie-Ekblad for 10+ years :amazed:

I have been suggesting this for a while. If you believe CS can handle the #2 role you make this deal. You get a cornerstone D and get cap flexibility. We will NOT be able to keep everyone.

Also we could stash Ekblad for another year in Junior and not rush him along because the D is fine...could be added towards playoffs.

If a Krejci for the first pick deal were to happen (with subsequent signing of Iginla), this would be a plausible opening night lineup:
Lucic-Yeti-Iginla
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Fraser-Kelly-Loui
Paille-Campbell-Florek

Chara-Dougie
Seids-Boychuk
Krug-McQuaid
Miller
Ekblad?

I still don't think Krejci is enough to get that pick though. He's a good player, but not a franchise player which is probably what Florida is looking for if they trade that pick. It's also a pretty bold assumption that Soderberg is ready to handle filling Krejci's shoes.

I can't describe how adamant I am against returning Kelly to the 3rd line center position. The team needs 3 centers who can contribute offensively. That spot has to be Spooner if they make that deal, move Kelly to 3LW if you're worried about defense (I'd move Kelly as well, and see what kind of chips you can move for a young impact winger).

If we unload Krejci, how can you convince Iggy to return if he wants to win more then anything?

That lineup has a lot of holes...we'd be fighting for a wild card IMO...and that's because other teams would only be improving in our division.

Are there any legs to this Krejci talk, or is it just talk? Soderberg could be our #2 center, but that's a pretty big downgrade from Krejci. Really doubt he goes anywhere unless we make another move for another center.

Personally think Kelly and Bart's rights will be shipped together for a mid pick. Kelly is cap dump, Bart is for taking that cap on.

Don't see Boychuk going. Possibly McQuaid, but Boychuk is a big part of this team and he has a very good contract. I want Kelly, McQuaid, and Campbell gone before him.

Marshy and Eriksson, no. They already learned not to sell low.

KoKo/Spooner, maybe, but only if the right deal comes along. Doubt it.

If we move anyone in a "cap dump" trade before Kelly, I'm going to be infuriated. I love Kelly, I wish there was no cap so he could stay, but he NEEDS to go. It isn't even an option. A 4th liner can not be making 3m. Different story if he was still putting up 20 goals per year, since our 3rd line isn't a normal 3rd line, but he's not. He's a PK specialist.

David Krejci, 14BOS1(25th) and future considerations¹
for
14FLA1(1st), Connor Brickley and future considerations²

1. Florida receives a 2nd round pick in 2016 if David Krejci fails to resign with Florida before June 30th, 2015.
2. Boston receives a 3rd round pick in 2016 if David Krejci resigns with any said club before June 30th, 2015.

is the Krejci and Ekblad talk just talk or is it a legit rumor? I've lost track.

Soderberg would be facing better competition. Greek makes a good point about Iginla (does he want to be here if he doesn't have a top flight playmaker, does he see the trading of Krejci as going away from Stanley Cup aspirations?)

I think it's based off that tweet that said 10 NHL teams are offering NHL players for the 1st overall pick.

So a 33.3% chance one of those teams is us. Krejci just seems like the most likely. So not a legit rumor, but not not a "rumor".

If Krejci wasn't a part of this team's long term future then I guess the whole "Seguin had no future at center here" part of the trade argument goes out the window.

thanks, D.

It's very interesting. A cornerstone D with Hamilton and then complementary players like Morrow and Krug - it's a good way to deal with life without Chara.

Yep that why it's silly to think Krech is getting traded. IF Bergy wasn't here Krejci would be a king in Boston
Krejci does a lot of things right and doesn't get near the credit Bergeron gets

IF one of these centres were traded it would kill our teams playoff chances

For me the Krejci aspect of it was just another piece of PR spin. If they wanted to get him minutes at center, they would have. They could have played him on the "3rd line" there, gotten his legs under him at the position, and gone 3 deep while barely playing a 4th line at all. They just chose not to. Believe me, having 3 #1 centers rolling at you for 54 minutes a night wears a team down much, much more than rolling 4 lines where the latter two centers are Kelly and Campbell.

Peter Chiarelli told the Bruins media they could come off "high alert" as he didn't anticipate pulling off any major deals this weekend.

Betting we only move McQuaid.....dissapointing.

I still think he trades Kelly and probably McQuaid.

He will only trade Kelly with permission. Like when Lonnie got on his knees and asked his father-in-law if he could marry his daughter. Kelly comes with a NTC a 60-19-2 record and an A on the sweater.

Funny you mention that Dan, because my father in law did tell me on as he gave me his daughter's hand that all sales were final and there were no returns. Despite that policy, I'm far happier with that contract than Bruins fans are with Cage's.
