If Michel Therrien's not crazy, that's what we should have on opening night.

Patches - DD - Cole -> a given. Therrien said he wouldn't touch this combo.

Bourque - Plex - Gio -> most likely combo barring a terrible camp by Bourque

Eller - Gomez - Armstrong

Moen - White - Prust

Noki

Unless Gallagher or Gally makes a significant push or there's an injury, I don't see a place for them in the line up that matches up with the kind of player they are. Maybe on the third line in lieu of Armstong or rotating White out of the lineup but at that point they'd both be better served playing more minutes in the C or the A IMO.

Maybe the lines won't be exact but I think the line up will be pretty close at this point.

Gomez will be bought out

Why do people still say this? The amnesty buyouts aren't available for this season. It has been mentioned millions of times. Get with the program. Fans like you will ask for Bergevin's head the second they see Gomez on the ice.

I could see something like this for opening night. Gomez with Galchenyuk just to try to do something different :) Could be pretty easy minutes.
Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Erik Cole
Rene Bourque - Tomas Plekanec - Brian Gionta
Galchenyuk - Scott Gomez - Colby Armstrong
Brandon Prust - Lars Eller -Travis Moen
Extra: Ryan White

Andrei Markov - PK Subban
Alexei Emelin- Josh Gorges
Tomas Kaberle- Francis Bouillon
Extra: Raphael Diaz, Yannick Weber
Something gota give with the D.

I see a lot of proposed season starting lineups on this board that include Galchenyuk. I must be missing something. I watched a lot of the juniors, and while Galchenyuk did stand out in some ways with his deft stickhandling and passing skills, I just don't see him being ready for the NHL yet. He was often "invisible" against the more skilled teams at the tournament, and I'd like to see him dominate against the more skilled teams in the OHL before he makes the leap.

That said, I don't have a problem letting him play the first few games in the Bigs with the team, but I would be shocked if he was not sent back within the first 6 games (before contract year burning period begins).

However... I should also mention that Yakupov didn't show much more NHL-readiness than Galchenyuk to me during the juniors. If Yakupov can start the season with the Oilers, then, maybe Galchenyuk is closer than I think. We'll see come training camp!

But I think that Gomez will be in the lineup on opening day. He'll be in the bottom six though, maybe playing with Eller and Moen.

My guess:

Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Erik Cole
Rene Bourque - Tomas Plekanec - Brian Gionta
Lars Eller - Brandon Prust - Colby Armstrong
Travis Moen - Scott Gomez - Alex Galchenyuk/Ryan White

Josh Gorges - PK Subban
Andrei Markov - Alexei Emelin
Tomas Kaberle - Francis Bouillon/Raphael Diaz/Yannick Weber

I think most of us think like you. There will be 5-6 games to see how he is in the NHL. Then sent back to Sarnia then probably stick with the team next year.

Why is Moen higher than Prust in every lineup?

Because he's a better hockey player. Prust is just a better fighter.

Not over the last years he hasn't been. Besides i am pretty sure that Moen has had alot more chances to be on a 2nd line than Prust has.

Moen is pretty much cut out to be a typical 3rd liner. Prust is an energy/grit 4th liner. Not to mention Moen already has some good chemistry with Eller.
