I remember wanting the Ducks to pick this guy in the 2012 draft. I'm happy now that we didn't, ...
Kerdiles wasn't a homerun either.

The pronounciation will be butchered. His name is Åberg, and "Å" is a lot closer to "O" than "A". They will say "Aaa-berg" but it should be "Oh-berg".
I also hate how all the announcer say Rickard Rakell's first name. "Rickard" should be short just like the english name "Richard". Not "Rick-AAAAarrhhhrd". Sounds like he should be a pirate in some pirate movie, or a villian in Lucky Luke. But I've gotten used to it now.
Idk... Aberg is a lw I think? arnt we kinda good on LW right now Rakell - Comtois - Cogs - Sheerwood? did we just bring him in as a 13th?makes sense with Ritchie still unsigned and the Gibbsons and Eaves injuries. Curious to see what opening night lineup looks like.
Sherwood has been at RW all preseason as far as I know. He’s right handed, regardless.Idk... Aberg is a lw I think? arnt we kinda good on LW right now Rakell - Comtois - Cogs - Sheerwood? did we just bring him in as a 13th?

Damn Swedes. Here I was wondering if it was "A-berg" or "Ah-berg" and it turns out both are incorrect lol
Sounds like he would fit in Minnesota WildThe Swedish letter Å is pronounced how Americans would pronounce the O in "Fork".
The letter Å can also form a word on its own. There's no real English translation but it basically means a very small river.
Basically his last name translates to "river mountain".

Plenty of English words that amount to a small river: brook, creek, rivulet, rill, slough . . . . Doesn't fit any of those? I'm just curious. The Swedish letter Å is pronounced how Americans would pronounce the O in "Fork".

I'd say it's what North Americans would usually call a creek. My Swedish sucks, though.Plenty of English words that amount to a small river: brook, creek, rivulet, rill, slough . . . . Doesn't fit any of those? I'm just curious.

Now we’re just diving into Swedish pronunciation.
How is the ö pronounced in Lundeström and Backström? Is it essentially the typical “o” sound?
