The pronounciation will be butchered. His name is Åberg, and "Å" is a lot closer to "O" than "A". They will say "Aaa-berg" but it should be "Oh-berg".

I also hate how all the announcer say Rickard Rakell's first name. "Rickard" should be short just like the english name "Richard". Not "Rick-AAAAarrhhhrd". Sounds like he should be a pirate in some pirate movie, or a villian in Lucky Luke. But I've gotten used to it now.

Yeah, but the proper pronunciation sounds like a schoolboy name. Being a pirate is WAAAAY cooler than being a schoolboy.

makes sense with Ritchie still unsigned and the Gibbsons and Eaves injuries. Curious to see what opening night lineup looks like.

Sherwood has been at RW all preseason as far as I know. He’s right handed, regardless.

Low risk move, I remember he had some good moments against us in that playoff series in 2017. Probably better than throwing a bunch of inexperienced guys in all at once. Kid has talent so let's see what happens

Damn Swedes. Here I was wondering if it was "A-berg" or "Ah-berg" and it turns out both are incorrect lol

The Swedish letter Å is pronounced how Americans would pronounce the O in "Fork".

The letter Å can also form a word on its own. There's no real English translation but it basically means a very small river.

Basically his last name translates to "river mountain".

Plenty of English words that amount to a small river: brook, creek, rivulet, rill, slough . . . . Doesn't fit any of those? I'm just curious.

I'd say it's what North Americans would usually call a creek. My Swedish sucks, though.

Not sure, but there's no match får Å on google translate. There's also no synonyms for Å in the Swedish language, but I think it's just a really old Swedish word for river. Today it's used to describe small rivers, at least where I live, so it could be a dialectal thing. A creek/brook we would basically only call something that one could jump over. The Swedish word for that is Bäck, as in Nicklas Bäckström ;)

Now we’re just diving into Swedish pronunciation.

How is the ö pronounced in Lundeström and Backström? Is it essentially the typical “o” sound?
