The odd thing about all this is many of us felt he was much much stronger on the boards and he drove the net harder pre season. This is complete pile of poo. One thing I can say he has a tendency of doing quick no look passing in some danger areas of the ice. I defend that 2 ways. He’s definitely not alone trying this and his line mates are caught off guard. This kid see things much like a Krejci. 2 plays ahead.
First NHL point was a beautiful cross ice pass to McQuaid, yes McQuaid, for a goal. First NHL goal was a follow up up on DeBrusk's miss when he drove to the net with Cehlarik following, which was started by Cehalrik rushing up the ice and giving Jake a nice backhand feed in the NZ in traffic. In his stint with the Krejci line he created space and made great passes quite often but the line was snake bit when it came to goals, as the post seemed to dominate. The solid chances were certainly there.
Preseason this year Cehlarik stymied Johnny Hockey in his own zone which ended up in a goal. Then there was the absolutely sick backhand pass by Cehalrik to Moore for a goal in the same game. Against Philly Cehlarik got a nice goal while putting himself right in front of the crease. Same game Carlo scored from distance because Cehlarik created a great screen in front of the goalie. Cehlarik's strong board work then later on led to another Bs goal. He was near the crease and along the boards a TON that game battling. You get the picture.
f*** the AHL. Again, I don't give two shits about what he does or doesn't do in the AHL. What he has shown in the NHL is a more complete game than what Donato has been bringing this season. Cehlarik is an excellent passer who is not afraid to get dirty. I am only basing my thoughts on what I've seen the players do on the ice in games. Also, I'm not convinced Donato necessarily needs to be sitting if Cehlarik is brought up. There are other options in creating lines.
