It's not that I'm not a fan or dislike the guy. I just don't agree with the ardent fans that he's the answer. It's not that I don't think he can do it either. It's that I think the expectations by the pro Cehlarik are out of whack.

I think your expectations of the pro Cehlarik expectations are out of whack...Just saying.

I'm seeing it but not at the level you are.

It's a very very slight improvement, enough to keep him in the lineup because of his offense. But he still loses the puck randomly for no reason, still weak along the boards. Weak on his skates when he gets going, seriously he somehow gets lighter on his feet when he's flying high. Guys breath on him and he'll fall over.

I want him to be as cerebral as JFK while maintaining his offensive flair. If he can do that he'll score 30 in this league.

Cerebral as JFK? JFK has no shot at the net in 3 games now

I think Donato is on the right track

I agree with some of your points above but he is still only like a rookie and it was much worst at the beginning of the season

Once he builds his body and hopefully improves skating a few of those weaknesses you mentioned will be history

Doubt he will ever be a top 6 player in this league. And with 2-3 min left he won't be on the ice. But it is definitely possible he rides on the Michael Ryder/Beleskey (1st season with Bruins) train and scores 20 a year on average

Believe he had the blowtorch out on his blade and then he was sawing down the handle a bit and working it out in general. Just goes to show that he wasn’t happy with something on the ice and was doing his best to make adjustments afterwards. Even if everyone else was already on their way home.

wait, don't they have equipment managers who take care of these things?

But I do see what you mean... that he is very serious now

whatever the case is, he has been hot down at Prov as of late

Who has been his linemates from start of the year until recent?

Wasn't it Hughes and Senyshyn?

Recently Smith and Hughes? (is this the 1st line?)

Depending on the game and matchups, there’s a lot of “first” lines, but yes he’s seen substantial time with Senyshyn this year. Hughes at times also.

They do have equipment managers, but players take care of their own modifications and stick maintenance, just like in the NHL.

Since you watch alot of Pro hockey

what is the state of Senyshyn? Is he ready for a chance at the NHL or still has some ways to go? What is exactly holding him back?

Also if Fitzgerald was healthy....do you think he would have been the one called up instead?

Yikes! Only thing good out of him was his brief stint with Eugenie Bouchard.

yep, absolutely loved the kid coming out of juniors then he made TC for the WJHC which I attended. He didn`t get a ton of ice time, can`t recall exactly but he either got a nasty flu during the tournament or was nursing a minor injury but in brief TOI played a very safe and sound game as he was given the role of checking forward.

Had decent size, decent hands, needed to work on skating but just couldn`t put it together. I don`t see PC in the same mold but I do feel the same as LSCII that many here might have their expectations a touch too high. Just like to see the kid play smart, help create and possibly finish an opportunity. He`ll not be the savior but at least it`s a change in the lineup, Backes looks to be odd man out, pretty loud message there to all in the lineup

I want to see if Cehlarik can be an NHL player on the 2nd or 3rd line. I don't think anyone considers him to be "the answer" but rather a piece of the puzzle.

If he shows he can do well and contribute on the wing, it means the Bruins can go hard for a 3rd line center or even another winger if Forsbacka-Karlsson continues to improve.

Well said. At the end of the day, it is about building a better team. If Cehlarik can be a solid contributor on a 2nd or 3rd line and be better than what we have right now, it is a win.

He’s big and an elite passer. Would like to see him on the half wall during the pp.

sure as he** don`t want to see him called up, then dressed, then Butch deciding after one shift he`s best suited for the bench and 6 mins of TOI while Acciari gets 15

The pro PC gang see something you don't. We get that.

Are the pro PC camp expecting PC to be the permanent solution to the 2nd line for the playoffs. No. Do we think he deserves an opportunity over the other 6 forwards who have failed on the 2nd line? Yes

He has size, skill, and vision/high IQ. That's what I have seen live and last year playing for the bruins before going down to injury.

I have always held the belief the bruins brass are very high on him / now it's up to Cehlarik to do his thing. Hope he contributes and makes the bruins a better/deeper competitive team.

Glad he's getting a chance. He adds skills to the lineup and did look good with Krejci+Pasta his last callup.

Hopefully, it goes well for his so he helps the team scoring more goals and increase his trade value to improve the team via trade.

me too, while I didn`t see what others did during his brief time here previously, I also haven`t seen him play in Providence. Proof is in the puddin, let`s see how the kid`s game has grown. There is no reason I would ever root against a prospect or player for the B`s if that player is helping this deep get better and PC is no different. I`m neither pro nor detractor of his

Sometimes he makes time look like it’s standing still on the PP. Has had more than few “Wow” moments this season.

If you watch his p bruin goal videos the dude can snipe. Going to be interesting to say the least. He can't be any worse than what has been inserted to date. Other than Nords which had a pretty good run with that line.

You don’t score 20G in 49GP as a rookie in the AHL by accident. I hope he uses his shot more tonight because you’re right, he does have a really good shot.

Matt Fraser scored 20 in 44 games for Providence. How well did that translate to the NHL?

I’m sorry, did I say anything about the translation of goal-totals from the AHL to the NHL? No, I actually didn’t even mention the “NHL,” you just did, not me.

Back to my point, you don’t score 20G in 49GP as a rookie in the AHL by accident, so I’d like to see him use his shot more like he did that season. For Matt Fraser, he was regarded as a sniper, so if he isn’t scoring goals, he really isn’t bringing much to the table...as we saw first-hand.

Fraser certainly has an NHL-caliber shot as well, but unfortunately for him, he just doesn’t have much else and that’s why he isn’t playing right now. He can’t really skate that well and his hockey-IQ seemed to be lacking across the board.

On the other hand, Cehlarik has a great hockey-IQ and excellent awareness, especially in the offensive-zone. His ability to make passes and thread the needle through traffic is impressive. His positioning always seems to clog lanes and make it harder on the defense to get pucks out of their own zone when he’s attack. He can be disruptive like that.

Although he isn’t the “fastest” guy out there, he skates with conviction and strength, moving with purpose. It takes him an extra step or two to reach that “top” gear, but he’ll get there. Matt Fraser could skate North-to-South and that was legitimately all. He wasn’t great laterally.

These are reasons why I think Cehlarik can play in the NHL and reasons why Fraser can’t. After all, it’s not like Cehlarik hasn’t shown anything when given his very, very small chances in Boston so far. On the contrary, he’s shown skill, promise and potential. After all, he was arguably the best non-roster forward on the ice for the Bruins during preseason this year. He was younger in his first call ups to Boston and is still developing, too. Matter of fact, I’d say he’s improved even from last season until now.

Personally, I don’t understand why you’re being so pessimistic and dismissive of Cehlarik and those who are speaking highly of him. However, we will see if Cehlarik plays well tonight and take it from there.

Optimism for a prospect on a hockey forum about prospects? Can’t happen
