Can we please fire idiot Sullivan now?

Realistically we still have a chance during the core’s twilight years if idiot Sullivan rage quits over Ruhwedel being gone.

On a more serious note, I do think Sid’s desire for a “perfect” legacy will keep him playing here until the end of his career.

Makes me wonder what Jake's plan is. Are we trying to win as much as possible out of spite so we don't want to dump the whole team? Or are we hanging on to guys so that we don't get completely caved next year and hope that a couple of the guys we traded for make an impact? Are we expecting Jake back?

It's an interesting idea to just have as many good tickets as possible rather than having one sure thing too, as well as not overrating a low 1st round pick and instead grabbing multiple seconds/former seconds. Seems a bit moneyball. Might not pay off but it is an interesting gamble.

Part of me wonders if Dubas wants to give the 1st away this year so wanted to keep enough players.

On the 2nd part I do think it's a moneyball approach.

I was thinking a high end prospect + a 2nd from Carolina.

Instead we got 4 2nds.
Our cupboard was non existent as well. In my personal opinion we got our 3rd 5th and 7th prospect in that deal. All Making our top 10.

Pretty disappointed in how little Dubas got done at the TDL, but at the same time how much could he even do with all the shit contracts on this team (some of which are his fault, but some of which aren't)?

I'd cut him some slack if he replaced Sully this off season but I don't think it's coming.

So at the end of the day, nothing he does to try and retool for next year is likely to matter at all

Yeah Sully is issue number 1, 2 and 3 and Dubas has given him more than enough rope to please the FSG overlords. If he doesn't do anything about it this off-season it really is irrelevant what tinkering he does with the deck chairs.

If Harkins is out for a while, it could happen.
Does this look like a bloke that does a lot of thinking?

I think it's a missed opportunity to shed a lot of salary and also create open spots for youth and push that movement the rest of the way knowing Sullivan is going to f*** this up even further anyway and maybe you get some lads some experience and push that pick into a top 5 prospect thanks to Sullivan's incompetence. It should be a final thank you and f*** off, lol.

Keeping Smith, Eller, Ned just seems like an epic missed opportunity. Even Acciari. Harkins should just be waived when healthy.

Yeah Eller and Smith seem like on paper to be movable contracts, but maybe the extra year each had scared people off. Or maybe Dubas had no interest in doing that.

Hypothetically this is our roster next year IMO…

Rakell - Crosby - Rust
Bunting - Malkin - Smith
X - DOC - X
Nieto - Eller - Accari

Graves Letang
Pettersson EK65
Ludvig - X

Jarry
X

With 12.7 mil.
Seems highly unlikely that's a playoff team unless we get a serious run of finishing luck.

POJ has played very well for over a month now - back to how he was playing last season, Ludvig is really not that good and I would see him as the new 7th really. I hope in the off season they go and pick up a solid RHD to pair with POJ.

I see DOC as the 3c as well and would rather Hinostroza as the RW or Bemstrom as the RW on he 4th line and no way they don't make Puustinen a regular, he would have to show up and have the worst training camp and pre-season of his life to not make that team.

I could see the 3rd line as - Smith, O'Connor, Puljujarvi and then Bunting, Malkin, Puustinen. IF Dubas doesn't move Smith with the ability to retain only on 1 year this summer instead of rest of this season and another at the TDL like he could have as well.

Depends how they build around it. I imagine they are going to go hard for Chandler Stephenson and another LHD.

Ferraro would be an interesting pick up given his history with EK.
I just don't see how the PP gets fixed with that group barring just lucky finishing. And that alone would be enough to cost them a spot again.

But yeah I suppose Dubas might put together a better bottom six at least. Perhaps that will be enough.

I think Ponomarev will be on our roster.

I don’t see POJ returning.

You hope Yager makes it out of camp and you have Bunting who despite his warts is a PP specialist.

POJ deserves better than this shit show, personally I think he has been better than the credit he gets here but yeah, I can see that happening.

Ponomarev making the roster would be great (would love to see him up right now actually), but there's a lot I'd like to see punted to make that happen - Ideally bidding adieu to Smith, Acciari, etc. Also I would have more faith in Puljujarvi being a project worth keeping around if Sullivan would f*** off.

No, we did not get four seconds, but let's say we did, would it be all that bad? IF ONE of them hits and is a good top six forward, you won the trade.

This is the core's twilight years. They're done, man.
Yep!

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but if the Pens do finish bottom 10, is it still at their discretion whether or not to turn their first rounder this year over to SJS? If it is, does anyone really think Dubas would turn it over with the thought being we'll be much worse next year?
