Recent deals pretty much confirm what we already knew. It's going to take massive overpayments to even get half decent players.
This is what will bring I think, not 100% sure. This is how it seemed to be going before the last lockout with money and free agent problems. We may be trading for Tyler Bertuzzi but I will only believe it when it is done..

I think that Hextall being super patient might pay off. There are only so many buyers out there to mortgage their futures. The Penguins don't desperately need anything. They could do with a bit of help anywhere that isn't #1d or top 2 center. I say take whatever is left on deadline day.

Redmond, WA
Tippett, a 2024 1st and a 2023 3rd for Giroux and some no name AHL jobber as far as I can tell. Kinda a mediocre return but I don't think Philly was going to do any better than that.

Dang they went all in... lol
Makes sense now that I look at it.. Yandle’s buyout penalty doubles to like 6 million next year. No way are they re-signing Marchment, Chiarot, Giroux AND dealing with that.

Did Giroux have a NMC? If he could pick his spot they might not have had a lot of leverage.

At this rate 2023 deadline is going to be dull because nobody's got anything to spend.

How likely is it Giroux just goes back to Philly next year? Any kind of return would be worth it. Hell any kind of return is worth it when the guy controls where he goes.

Well, the Flyers seem to be accepting picks pretty far out, so they’ll probably trade Hart for a 2054 1st next year.

How dare you suggest the proud contender of Philadelphia will be anything other than major buyers next year.
