Maybe hold onto Green until the off season when the anger over Quenneville has blown over? Are there many experienced coaches to be hired right now to right the ship? Who would you guys target as an in season coach hire?

Tallon, Quenneville, Babcock are names I don’t think we will see in the NHL again.

I really really like Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan

Missing Malkin
Crosby hurt to start the season and still looks hurting playing terrible, but they are still a super strong team 5v5
won 4 in a row and scored 15 in those games to 3 against

just need to fix that PP

Can't see it happening, you'd think Benning and Green after this road trip will like to hear massive "Fire Green, Fire Benning" chants at Rogers Arena from angry fans? Including the ones with season tickets?

Heck no, they need to be gone asap.

That’s actually upsetting to watch. We haven’t seen interviews like this since 1997.

No kidding. Even with bad teams over the past few years, it hasn’t felt like we’ve had massive locker room problems - and now it does.

This is where that 2020 off season stings hard. Losing all of Tanev, Toffoli, Stecher and Markstrom in one fell swoop was a lot of locker room leadership and character vets walking away.

I f eel Miller's pain, in his tone, and on his face.

He's not perfect, but that post that said Miller was the problem and he should've cared blah blah blah was asinine to say the least.

I honestly think Miller should demand a trade, he deserves better than this shit show.

This organization has had no leadership from management for nearly a decade and the on-ice leadership was gutted as well.

It's a rudderless ship. The whole thing is just imploding.

Total losing culture from top to bottom.

It's 9 years of rot that started with the AV firing and the Torts hiring and it's going to take several more years to fix if we're even lucky enough to have Roberto Aquilini take over.

A lot of us here have spent years warning of an Edmonton scenario. In the end, it's turned out even worse.

Started earlier than that.

What was the narrative that imac spun to justify the Torts hiring?

Country club mentality in the locker room.

Whatever could have caused the 2011 core to develop a country club mentality?

Gillis?

Nah.

Aquilinis meddling?

Yah... probably.

That whole thing was silly in the first place. First of all, it was only a short time removed from people being up in arms about AV being too mean.

Second of all, these guys were f***ing adults. Adult millionaires with families and plenty of options. Hiring someone to scream at them like children instead of treat them like adults isn't exactly the way forward. Employees are more productive when they are treated with respect and given an environment and resources to achieve better results.

It's even funnier after years of stupid decisions being excused because they are "character guys" and "leaders" and we need to avoid a "losing culture".

It's almost as if the best way to avoid a losing culture is to build a team capable of winning games, wow go figure

I think we didn’t realize how much leadership we had with the twins; edler, markstrom and tanev here. They kept the on ice product stable (as much as possible) while the off ice was a disaster. Once they are gone the poison of the off ice stuff seeped into the room and we are where we are

I see Sekeres is speculating that there’s something of a competing leadership role between Horvat and Miller. He feels Horvat is seen as the “company man” whereas Miller is more “stick it to the man”.

Obviously it’s speculation and Sekeres’ track record is spotty at best with inside scoops. But it certainly feels, especially with Miller’s interview answer today, that there’s a divide in the room.

Luke Schenn has more assists. The OEL contract is a huge anchor on this organization no matter how ok his play has been 5on5.

After years of anchors like Loui Eriksson capable of securing an aircraft carrier in a storm, an anchor like OEL more appropriate for a "small vessel" like Jeff Bezos' yacht feels light as a feather. I'm sure in a few years the reality of carrying that weight will dawn on his fans.

We had really bad locker room issues starting in 15-16 but as the Sedins were consummate professionals, it was hidden extremely well.

The bad 15-16 locker room issues led to Jake becoming Jake and Jared becoming Jared and the Canucks utterly failing at rebuilding.

Amazing stuff.

How much rat feces do you have to find in the soup you're eating before you finally fire the restaurant manager of your expensive restaurant?

Apparently the answer is, "just keep bringing me more", as long as they are a high-school friend who once had a job managing running a Denny's for a year or two, and they like to golf with you on Saturdays. Might as well let them bring in their alcoholic nephew to be the sommelier too since, why not.
