4yrs 28M deal for Pacioretty in Vegas...

About where I thought he'd sign, term is shorter than I thought though.

Year 1: 10.5M
Year 2: 7M
Year 3: 5.25M
Year 4: 5.25M

That's a real bargain.

I would had preferred Cody Glass + 2nd than Suzuki-Tatar-2nd.

I guess that's the value of an unsigned 30 yo RFA who's just got his worst seasons in years. Patches will score 40 with Karlsson and Smith.

Who's gonna score goals for the Habs this season ? Carey Price ?

The less goals we score this year the better. No matter what the trade was, we weren't winning anything this year. Better to tank. Next year's draft will be even better than this year's.

I would have preferred Cody Glass for Pacioretty straight up. But don't see Vegas doing that.

He signed a 4 yr extension with Vegas for 7 mil/yr. 28 mil. $ deal.

That's a good deal for Vegas. I'm still happy to get a young blue chip prospect for a vet. I would do the same for Weber, Petry, Byron, Shaw, etc... I also want picks and prospects for Price, but a big return.

Wow only 4 years.. That's a big gamble for Pacioretty.

The 6 X 6M$ from LA didn't looked that bad compared to this.

It's like adding year 5-6 at 4M$.

Now we have to spend another couple hours explaining to people Max would of never got this deal in montreal, and never for that low amount of money, and that max is in a tax free state with a team that just went too the cup finals..

sigh.
And that he asked to get traded.

Good deal for Montreal.

Good deal for Vegas that they get Max for 5 years (1 this year at $4M and then 4 years at $7M)

Good deal for Max as he can cash in on another contract and is getting paid well with this one in a no-state tax team.

Also, I'm happy it's not Montreal who signed him at $7M. Not to mention that he might ask for more here due to his net gain needing a higher cap hit.

Pretty cool to see that Max Pacioretty has morphed back into a 35 goal scorer on social media lol

I don't see anyone knocking the Knights for signing a "17 goal scorer" at 7M a year anymore

On a completely unrelated note, Suzuki is no longer a top 50 prospect.

sigh.

It's been shown many times that there are plenty of ways around paying high taxes and so the end result between cities isn't that much.
