Makar, Byram AND Girard are expected to be impact players immediately. Toronto doesn't need to expect Sandin and/or Liljegren to be impact players right away.Toronto doesnt have a Defense like what Colorado has. They dont have a Makar, Byram or Girard waiting in the wings to not only take over Barries role but in Makars case very likely be a better player then him.
So if Toronto can take that risk, why can't the Avs? Why couldn't the Avs at least wait until they see how Byram/Makar/Timmins...etc perform before trading away Barrie? Trading Barrie for a worse player before the season starts doesn't scream "fantastic" for the Avs.And, Toronto is going to have a very hard time signing Barrie. They simply dont have the cap space to bring him back and if they do they are throwing away all of the depth they have. They're already icing 8 guys making 800k od less next season which is exactly why they are a paper tiger in the legal right now.
I'm just going to be honest, that's a shitty supporting cast. Sakic still has work to do. Just because Avs fans think their own mediocre players are prime candidates to breakout doesn't mean that they will.As for Kadri. Like I said before Burakovsky looks like a prime candidate to breakout next season and so does Jost. Plus, a number of Avs fand believe they plan on spreading the wealth next season which was exactly why Kadri was brought in to help balance the lines. I expect Burakovsky to play with MacKinnon and Rantanen and Kadri will Center a line with Landeskog and Jost.
You want to keep it simple because you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. It's funny when you accuse me of not knowing Kerfoot(probably because of his stats) yet you are doing the very same thing with Lehkonen and Armia. I HATE when people use specific point totals as if it's that players regular production. For instance, Tyler Myers had 48 points(in his rookie season too) does that mean he is better than Jeff Petry who never had 48 points?I dont really want to get into your teams players on your board but to keep it simple, it would be a massive stretch to suggest Lehkonen and Armia are better than Burakovsky and Donskoi. Both Donskoi and Burakovsky have produced 35+ points more than once and while Armia hasn't even hit 30 once yet and Lehkonen has a high of 31.
Anyways, what you might not know is that the Caps asked for Lehkonen in a Burakovsky trade and the Habs declined. Probably because their offensive production is similar but Lehkonen is FAR more complete than Burakovsky. Also, Armia was on pace for 33 points in an 82 game season. Compared to Donskoi, that would be a couple points less. So it would most definitely not be a "massive stretch" to say that Lehkonen/Armia>Burakovsky/Donskoi. They are all very comparable players, and Habs fans are upset because of the lack of offensive production from Lehkonen/Armia. Potentially having two similar players in Burakovsky/Donskoi in the top 6 seems poor.
