Claimed off Waivers: [OTT] Victor Mete claimed off waivers by the Senators from the Canadiens

Just a few months ago, they put Perry on waivers to protect Mete and now it's Mete waived and claimed and Perry is still there.

Can't make this stuff up.

Wouldn't surprise me if there were multiple attempted claimees. Mete can move the puck and has some of the best advanced stats to show that. If he can ever find his rhythm offensively he's a useful player. If not he's still a serviceable bottom pairing D you can flip for a pick in a few years. Poor asset management by Bergevin to lose two young dmen to waivers this year for nothing.

Ottawa gets a free look through the rest of the year, and if they like him even a little, they can extend him for 1 season to keep Sanderson’s spot warm.

The first game Wolanin played this year was with Gudbranson, Brown and Coburn on Jan 15. Chabot and Zaitsev were the other 2.

Anyways, Mete will be expected to help replace Mike Reilly for 14 games in a meaningless season. I'm sure that he'll be fine.
