Good, was getting frustrating to hope for him to develop any aspect of his game.

wasnt that long ago Mete was untouchable according to Bergevin and some Habs fans

Yeah crazy to think that an emotional fan base like the Habs fan would see a young 19 yo D playing in the NHL and playing #1D minutes for team Canada at the u20 championship and would consider this guy untouchable at that time.

Mete was compared a lot to Girard at that time, unfortunately for the Habs he simply did not progress while Girard turned into a stud...

Not surprised. Dorion will probably turn him into an asset as he does with many of his project players. Any pick in return down the road would be better for Ottawa than what they gave for him (nothing).

We'll be taking that. No risk at all, if he sucks, we don't bother tendering him. For how much too, like...80K? That's a Melnyk approved move to boot!

Finally gone. Undersized, can't play physical, terrible offensively and a turnover machine. Only reason he was hyped was just how terrible the Habs defense was a few years ago. He's an AHL defenceman that should only be used for depth on decent teams.

He’s just an NHL filler until next season, if there’s smoke behind Gudbranson on the move, Ottawa would only have 6 defenders who have played NHL time left on the roster.
Likely won’t be back next season but it’s a ZERO risk move.

Good move for Ottawa.

Mete's was in the dog house in Mtl but a lot of people forget he's just 22 yo with 185 games under his belt. Having a +30 on a team that never made the playoff.

In Ottawa he'll get plenty of playing time with zero pressure.

Worst case scenario he fails but Ottawa paid nothing.

Or they just Mike Reilly him...

That was quite long ago in the hockey world. Things change quickly. Mete never became the player most thought he would.

He needs to get stronger, simple as that. This off-season is do-or-die for his NHL career.

Maybe Seattle scoop him up off of your roster for the expansion draft and he's still young.

wasn't that long ago he made it to the NHL at 19 and looked real promising. unfortunately for us, his progression simply stagnated
