That's what every teams fans do first. Look at Murray thread. Very positive.

I believe the distinction is that with Murray, fans overlook his ability to stay on the ice due to health, while with Nemeth, fans are ignoring what he actually does on the ice when he plays.

Just out of curiosity, are you able to get the comparables for Girard?
Heiskanen is actually the only player in the 80 percentile so Girard is definitely unique.

On my keister
F*ck Parise. He's old, slow and isn't a team guy.
The Avs have some talent in the wings (no pun intended).
Let's see what Newhook et al can do.

Tatar apparently signing with NJD. Another potential Avs target gone.

At least we were able to keep JT Compher. Sakic make #CupOrBust moves.

So we lost 4+ wins with our moves, 3rd worst drop in the NHL after the Yotes and the Canes.

Looks like losing Saad, Graves and Donskoi hurts us much more than Tampa losing Johnson, Gourde and Coleman.

So you’re saying analytics god JTC can’t compensate? Colour me surprised.

What are you talking about? Compher is an analytics god now? Also he was already there, how could he compensate the loss of other players?

Since it is data based and those two are essentially rookies I doubt it factors them in at all.
If that's the case then things aren't as bad as that graph suggests.

I also think the health of Kuemper, EJ, and Murray is hard to predict for a model like this and could make a huge difference.

The model would use Byram and Newhook's limited time to project their impact (so underrate). It would also just assume full health on Kuemper, EJ, and Murray (so overate).

I do wonder what the models performance has been in the past. I remember there was quite a bit of hype for NJD a few years ago when they got Gusev and Subban in the off-season, and they were god awful.

Not necessarily. Last year the lightning didn't have Kucherov which is probably hurt them in the standings at least a little bit. They were also in a tighter division. Unless they are comparing model to model and not model to actual from last year it doesn't really mean all that much.

You sure about that? Most GSVA models use totals (an algorithm of the last 3 year totals mostly weighted on the most recent season) instead of per game or 82 game projections. Not sure what Dom used here as he didn’t make it clear in the article but if he used 82 game projections the Avs numbers are definitely drastically inflated.

If they used rates instead of totals that would make Alex Newhook an upgrade on Connor Mcdavid based on last season. I have to assume they used totals as they almost always do.

Makes literally no sense. He’s going purely by free agency.

He didn’t even include Byram and Newhook. No to mention he says Kuemper is no Grubauer. We’ll see about that.

Keep in mind that Dom goes off analytics and the underlying numbers of Colorado players are better than every other team. So the players coming in are going to seem much worse because they weren’t playing in the Colorado system and had worse underlying numbers.
