Have to remember, it was a Russian podcast he was doing. Not like he was giving a scoop to SN from Calgary. Part of it is probably telling the habits of top players from another country, also not expecting it to be blown out of proportion overseas.

Its too bad about the bad teammate thing because on the ice hes a tremendous player. Three teams now where hes been a locker room cancer. Well I dont know about Buffalo but Winnipeg and San Jose certainly. San Jose thought that that leadership core with Thornton and Marleau could change him. I guess not.

Tatar, Galchenyuk or Parise to a lesser degree should be our target. We need a Saad replacement, or the whole bottom 9 need to pick up 50 odd goal(s) slack with Donkoi / Saad gone. My suggestion is to trade Compher for low pick(s), use his 3.5M in cap space, plus the 2 odd we presently have:

Landeskog - Mackinnon - Rantanen
XXXXXX - Kadri - Burakovsky
Jost - Newhook -Kaut (almost up to a point per game in the AHL)
Maltzev - Helm - Nichushkin
(O'Connor, Bowers, Ranta)

Toews - Makar
Girard - Johnson
Byram - Murray
(Mcdermid, Macdonald)

Kuemper
Francouz
(JJ)

Alternatively, trade Compher (plus) for Debrusk (who also needs a bounce back type of season) out of Boston for a fresh start for both players. Maybe JT bounces back to his 40 odd point status.

I seriously doubt they will trade JTC. They already had a chance to dump him and use that money to keep Saad or bring in another player who is clearly better than Compher.

It's such an obvious move to make that would have clearly improved our team so no wonder every page has someone talking about it. However, it seems the Avs like the guy so much that they will rather ice a worse team just as long JTC is a part of it.
