It's not hard at all to put a chip in the ball and sensors on the sticks and pylons to determine whether the line to gain/endzone was broached. All the ref would have to do is run it back to where the runner's knee was down and then they could run a VAR-type scan at that second so we don't have to go through the bs about spotting the ball and pulling the chains and such.
