When 18-year-old Bobby Orr signed a 2-year contract for $70,000 the average NHL salary at the time was $15,000.
it was $70.000 plus a stucco job on the Orr family house

Jaromir Jagr was (likely) the last active NHL player to have played with teammates of Gordie Howe (Jagr played with Gordie Roberts who was a teammate of Howe in 79/80)
Well, his prime was 70-game seasons when scoring was lower than now and 50-goal seasons basically didn't exist.I find it interesting that Howe held the goals record until March 23, 1994 but he never recorded a 50 goal season. Although he also never scored less than 20 goals from 1949-50 onward and has 14 seasons over 30 goals :O.
Joe Cirella played for both the Colorado Rockies and the Florida Panthers, which I guess probably isn't all that weird to most, but to me it just feels like there was a much longer gap between those teams' existences. (He briefly played for the Sens too)
Thats right. But also Jussi Jokinen has an amazing and somehow unlucky career.
He wasnt in Stanley Cup finals. But he was on Carolina roster in 2008/2009 - they lost in Conference finals to Pittsburgh. In 2012/2013 he switched to Pittsburgh. After 2013/2014 he was gone (Florida). Pens won 2 Cups in 2016 and 2017.
Now to international Competitions. This picture borrowed from Eliteprospects tells it very precisely:

The Blackhawks in the early 90s had a string of 11 straight playoff wins followed up right after by losing their next 10 straight playoff games
and im sure that only player still active who is in video game Nhl 1992 on sega genesis.....I am pretty sure Jaromir Jagr was the last active guy to play a game in a few of the old classic arenas; Chicago Stadium, Boston Garden and The Montreal Forum and Thornton and Marleau are the last guys left to play a game at Maple Leaf Gardens
What is the record today for most shots on goal by one player in one game? Back on February 24, 1968 - against the Montreal Canadiens, in Montreal - Rod Gilbert had 16 shots on net, and scored 4 times. It's one thing to have a night like that against an expansion team. It's quite another thing to do it against a team in the midst of a five-straight-trips-to-the-Finals streak.
1 - Jagr played against Ian Fraser
2 - Iain Fraser played against Gordie Howe
3 - Gordie Howe played against Virgil Johnson
4 - Virgil Johnson played against Eddie Oatman
5 - Eddie Oatman played against Paddy Moran
6 - Paddy Moran played against Mike Grant
7 - Mike Grant played against Dolly Swift
8 - and Dolly Swift played against Edwin Gough, who played in the first ever game on March 3, 1875
Wayne came close with his -25 in the Kings' disastrous 1994 season where he scored 130 (albeit a lot of his minuses were accrued when the team had thrown in the towel on the season). But doesn't quite "beat" Turgeon.Does anyone know the most points a player has ever put up in a single season while still being an overall negative in +/-? I know Turgeon put up 132 points in 92/93 and was -1. Can anyone top that?
How did Gordie play against Virgil Johnson?
120+ points and a minus.Does anyone know the most points a player has ever put up in a single season while still being an overall negative in +/-? I know Turgeon put up 132 points in 92/93 and was -1. Can anyone top that?

Gordie Roberts scored the first goal in Whalers NHL history in a 4-1 defeat to the North Stars in 1979.Jaromir Jagr was (likely) the last active NHL player to have played with teammates of Gordie Howe (Jagr played with Gordie Roberts who was a teammate of Howe in 79/80)
I can remember quizzing a well known hockey "expert," and one of my questions was "Name the first Sabre to have 100 points in a season." He didn't know the answer, but he did know that it could not have been Perreault (who everyone would guess) or I would not have asked the question. The first Buffalo Sabres player to reach 100 points was NOT Perreault or Martin or Pierre Turgeon
