Honestly Nylander has been fine on PP#1. The biggest problem IMO has been Rielly and his terrible decision making... usually with his point shots. Marner has had a few rough games with turnovers as well too.

Marner has not been good on PP1; no need to excuse Mitch there

Beacuse we have two full 82 game seasons where hes looked great vs 1 half season where he had a subpar year and 15 games where hes looked great some nights and lousy the others.

The bigger sample size is clearly pointing in one direction here..

So why do you jump all over Marner using smaller sample sizes? Three great seasons, better than Willie, growth each one and you’re so quick to criticize, contradicting your own “sample size” standards?

Where’s the consistency? Even Willie said he stunk last year, but if you read your posts in isolation you’d swear he was an all star. Now this year a brief stumble from a more proven commodity like Marner and it’s the polar opposite approach. I’ll leave you to reconcile the intellectual pretzel you find yourself.

The difference is, saying Marner hasnt been playing well for a handful of games doesnt mean that hes a bad player or that we should expect him to continue to be bad for the rest of.the season.

Just that he was bad (or subpar) in those few games discussed.

You can look at a stat line and say -that player had a good/bad game. But a game (or small handful of games) doesnt mean you can make a sweeping statement about a player.

Youve even said that Marner hasnt looked good to start the season - so what am i saying thats any different?

I think its a bit odd we havent seen Nylander and Jt as an experiment togther at this point. Had hoped it was going to be tried out last season when the team was in a funk there.

Thst said - Matthews and Nylander have looked good most games at 5v5 this season. Its really only been a couple games of the last few where things havent looked great.

Kappy and Matthews dont work together - neither wants to be the playmaker and imo Kappy has trouble reading the ice as quickly as Matthews.

If anything id try the Marner with Matthews experiment again (though havent been impressed with the results so far)

You could always shelter the Matthews/Marner combo and match JT/Nylander strength on strength.

I think JT would be a good fit with Willy because he grinds more than Matthews and is a better passer.

Nylander's P/60 is 2.13 which is 4th on the team among players who have played 10 games. Ahead of him are Matthews, Timashov, and Mikheyev. The last 2 players are probably going to drop. Nylander has produced like a 1st liner 5 on 5.

I think they should use Mikheyev instead of AJ on the 1st line. That would really help.
