If Brook has a good year he could very well make Juulsen expendable, especially if Fleury takes another step as well. I really do like Juulsen but I could see him being traded at the draft for picks or to move up.

Yes, this could happen but I would be patient with Brook. I'd like to see him have a full year in Laval and won't be surprised if it's 2 full years. Fleury has a real shot this year if there are injuries but he's gotta jump both Juulsen and Folin I'd think.

If you told Bergevin and Timmins that they could keep two of Juulsen, Brook and Romanov; I guarantee you Juulsen would be gone.......not to say I dislike Juulsen but that he is definitely not valued as much as Brook and Romanov.

So far we've actually seen one of them play on the big stage. Gee I wonder what the trade value is for those shiny new toys? It may be at it's apex.

I like Juulsen too. Seems like a nice enough fellow. I have never been sold on his ability to play NHL hockey. I don't like his upside/ability much and I think his value is nearly zero.

What is your definition of zero value? 3rd round pick?

Okay we haven’t seen any hockey from him in a long time.

Can we all please wait and see how he does this year (at least this fall) before we assess how we evaluate his value, his ceiling, his progress, his place in the future in comparison to the other shiny toy prospects, etc..?

EDIT: it’s not like we’re in a hurry to trade any D-man this summer anyway

More bullish than most on his upside as a top 4 Dman...

He'll need to take a big stride fwd this year, but with how he played before getting hurt + the pre-existing evidence of his work ethic & attitude + the scare of a potentially career threatening injury could all come together to create the breeding ground for a player whose intangibles help him exceed the sum of his "skills".

Though he played pretty well overall last year. Exceeded my expectations for him as a rookie anyways. If he could become another Emelin, is that really so bad?

Prior to his injury him and Reilly were playing very well on the second pairing (which is impressive considering Juulsen was only 21 years old with only 23 games under his belt before that), he even put up 5 points in 16 games which is solid for someone who wasn't playing on the PP. Assuming he's healthy we'll have a very solid 3rd pair whether it is Juulsen with Kulak or with Chiarot, having a reliable 3rd pairing will be helpful to reduce Weber & Petry's ice time.

Was hoping for a bit more than another Emelin, too light for that style anyways, needs to add a bit more girth. Looks like NJ likes to skate more than Emelin with the puck and has the ability to do so.

If the only comparison to Emelin is that he's heavy that's just dumb. Loads smarter. Smart first pass and fantastic with his body. Potential to fill. Josh Gorges with more offense. Stonger in the corners/net

I hope he recovered well from his eye injury

He was on the ice yesterday. Not related to his eye.... Unless Juulsen is feeling that is vision is not appropriate for pro hockey.

Juulsen will seek a second opinion for his headaches.

Terrible news for him.....hard to miss a season at that stage of development but missing more than that pretty much destroyed his NHL career.

Hope it's not that bad but it doesn't look good at all.

Too bad for the kid, smells like the end of the road. He's so young too, really really sad, hope he recovers fully :)

I'm starting to think maybe pro hockey is over for him.

Still too early to say. Could be post concussion syndrom, could eye related. I'm just surprised he hasn't gotten a second opinion from a specialist earlier. I had an esoteric health problem once. The doctor's couldn't do anything, until finally after a year and a half a specialist doctor found and solved the problem.

He's still young. Let's let this play out a bit.
