Surely it was because he got his bell rung, no? Mind you his whole line barely played.

Good points and probably a little of both -

He was hit hard and didn't see it coming - looked like he was sick on the bench until they finally took him back to the dressing room.

Ehlers and Connor are not playing well in this series - both are perimeter players and neither are effective in tight checking, physical games.

Line #2 didn't get a lot of ice once the blender came out - Hayes was playing a horrible game and Ehlers was hurt.
As for Connor, he was getting pushed around by a heavy St Louis team.

Both these guys are inconsistent and will will need more time - luckily they are both young and will get more time.

Ehlers has generated a fair bit of offense, atleast he has the speed and stickhandling to get around the physicality of the playoffs.

Really?
He got pasted last night and it could have been a lot worse -
He's not always effective in games like last night any more than Connor or Roslovic, who are also fast puck handlers.

They'll all be fine as they mature - and learn as they are doing in this series

Wasn't really a knock on Connor tho the stats show he's a non-physical entity.

He got pasted last night sure but in general he doesn't struggle with space so much because of his elusiveness, if the refs actually enforced the rules during the playoffs he would draw a ton of penalties too.

Most of our nifty guys can usually stay our of trouble but this is the playoffs and there's no room out there - I don't see any of our young guys getting much done 5v5

Could you imagine how Pat Kane or Johnny G's careers would have gone with Mo as their HC, probably a lot like what Mo has done to Ehlers NHL game so far....

those players have high hockey iq and would be fine under Maurice, just like Sheif and Wheeler. Ehlers has average iq at best.

Somewhere nice
Looks like the Jets key young players are built for fast , back the defence, skill game.

Why the heck we play 80s intimidate bodycheck game!!!!

So we can play Chairot and Kulikov?

Coach should design his team system base on their strengths.

Wait im going in circle.

Just play Ehlers please.

I think Maurice simply doesn't beleive in ehlers and his style of play in the playoffs It's a shame cuz ehlers can probably out skate the entire blues team

He may have a point. Ehlers has zero goals in 17 playoff games and counting.

It's not an excuse but I don't understand how posters can keep harping on last year's playoff stats and not mention the other young players that also played poorly. Ehlers played two less games, less toi than Connor and only had three points less while being shuffled around the lineup.
