Beagle dumped the puck in on a breakaway yesterday. Vancouver fans absolutely hate him. From what I gather, he's declined to the point where he isn't even NHL calibre anymore.

So it looks like even if he took a massive paycut to stay, it would've been bad for us.

Happy for his family though to get such a nice career end payout.

a bit of a lol dump-in/clear, albeit on PK and maybe a long shift, no idea
Beagle made it into the NHL purely on hard work
He was an O.K. AHL level player that put in so much work that it got him to be a NHL 4th liner; then thru more hard work actually made it to 3C for awhile
THAT is a success story.
Caps were brilliant to let him go when they did
Would've been a success for him to be in the League for 3-4 years and he outdid that by several more, good for him, and made some good $$$ taboot taboot
Now he joins the Brooks Laich/Alzner/Chris Clark files

Hot take alert after two days of NHL hockey and watching all the games, except last period of the two late ones yesterday and today.

The Sharks are bad, Karlsson in the lineup or not.
The Pens are slow, or the Sabres are really fast. Either way only Tanev looked like he could skate with them.
The Rangers are all offense, exciting to watch for sure.
Panthers, do you understand why you never pay a goalie that kind of money?
Boudreau will be gone as the Wild coach really soon. Old and slow team, Guerin's got his work cut out for him. At least they have some good prospects.

The Penguins do have Crosby, Malkin and Letang as potential burn it down and start all over pieces. They could probably get some solid young players and a lot of draft picks for those guys. They'd never do it though and Crosby will never be moved unless he wants out.
