Yes, they opened M. Wells Dinette in MoMA PS1 after they closed the first place on 49th. M. Wells Dinette was a small lunch restaurant in a cafeteria-style setting in the middle of the museum - only ate there once but it was pretty good, and a fun concept.
A few years back they opened M. Wells Steakhouse on Crescent. Both the Steakhouse and Dinette were open concurrently for a few years, but Dinette closed down earlier this year. The Steakhouse is still going but my last couple of visits I've been surprised at how empty it was. Used to be hard to get a reservation when it first opened, but now you can get one any night of the week. It also used to have a Michelin star but had it taken away a couple of years ago. But the food hasn't dropped off too much in quality, in my opinion.
The Rock is now a Stone, but still open (albeit probably under new management since the "good old days." It's not "old school" anymore...
And there is a "Rock" on W33rd St, next to Stout. I believe they were "old school", too at one point. But they now have a rooftop deck if I am not mistaken. This one is still probably the most "old school" one left.
Just got home from a 8 day vacation in NYC, 3 years since the last visit but damn the city has changed since that..

It's constantly changing. For the areas I am in every day, I don't notice it. But when I visit old neighborhoods I used to live in or frequent, I say to myself, "Man, when did all this happen?"
That is my go to when I want an adult "banana" vacation. Done it multiple times. Fantastic. Hands down, the best place in Caribbean. I stay at the high rises. It's safe. You can drink the tap water. Water is bath warm. Love it.
Do not recommend doing all-inclusive as the restaurants are amazing. I can give multiple recommendations.

If you have a nice car and/or just care a lot about it, just find a garage. To borrow the famous infomercial phrase: Set it and forget it. Street parking anywhere in NYC is taking a risk if you are going to leave your car behind for a length of time. If you don't get a ticket, you still might come back to your car to see its side defaced by scratches from people/truck drivers who can't drive/don't care about other people's property--especially if the street is narrow. There are lots of one-lane but two-way residential streets in Queens.

The Rock I was talking about was the one next to Stout. A real excellent shit hole, or was anyway, the 2nd floor with the big windows and deck definitely changed it a bit.
I went there for a drink later in the season (end of February, I think it was the later first responders night) and the place was boarded up.
It might have been just closed for renovations but I died a little on the inside.

Stay at any of the middle downtown beaches at or near the Hyatt and you're golden. Everything is just about within walking distance. A couple of notes:
Taste of Belgium for breakfast is a must. Their crepes and pancakes were to die for.
El Gaucho (the steakhouse in downtown Oranjustad), was ok but a little bit disappointing despite everyone raving about it. I've definitely had better steaks just in my neck of the woods in NJ.
The whole resort area downtown is really new and there are a ton of restaurants. Really nice to stroll along at night.
My wife and I stayed at the Marriott which was a little further down the beach away from the downtown, but everything was a 15-20 minute walk along the beach away. The Marriott also has the best casino on the island if that's your thing. Did pretty well playing blackjack there without any heat.

Thanks for your suggestions. Yeah, we are spoiled food-wise in the New York Metro Area so I tend to stick to local cuisine when traveling. PM me any additional recommendations that come to mind.

Try coming back every 2-3 years after living your first 36 years there. Makes me want to puke every time I visit. They're systematically tearing out every bit of character in that place piece by piece.

Each neighborhood in Manhattan is basically just a differently organized collection of Whole Foods/Starbucks/Chase/Duane Reade/Banana Republic/Gap/H&M. It's uncanny.

Hard to believe a scarring moment from my childhood is now 25 years in the past. Maybe our rebuilds will sync up and we’ll get a rematch in 5 years
