He’s a top 4 LD for the Blues who had been playing with Petro before Bouwmeester came back. No idea how he’s over rated when most outside fans probably don’t think twice about him and we Blues fans consider him our 3rd or 4th best d-man.

Pendulum award of the thread goes to OEL. Which is probably to be expected as there is no general consensus on the player.

Probably because he's a myth. Nobody has ever seen him play

Agreed, while everyone pumps the tires of so many younger D around the league, Risto gets underrated severely....particularly when you put too much stock into +/-. He hasn't been good defensively but it's tough to mask him (as other young D's get sheltered) on a terrible team and tough usage. Really, he's no different than a Hamilton/Parayko type D, all have to prove they are top-pairing quality....despite possessing the idealistic tools of size, skating, shot, etc.

One other guy that is not underrated is Gio. I've never heard anyone on here suggest he's not a top-pairing, ~#1D. Everyone respects his consistency, pedigree. It's only the other Flame defenders that are severely overrated.

Overrated: Duncan Keith. Always and every time.

He's not even that good defensively, maybe i'm wrong.

Nah dude - he's not good. I mean - he's probably playing a full pairing over his actual skillset, so he's not complete crap, but he is so far from a #1 Dman that playing him as one is just sad at this point.
