Edmonton is icing one of the worst six man defense cores I have ever seen with their injuries... and I am well aware of what the Flyers have regularly iced in the last few seasons.

Just outscore McDavid tomorrow... the chances will be there.

I did say one of, not the worst... ;)

Like the Oilers, the Flyers had two true NHL caliber D in the lineup that night.

Benning is okay, I guess, but the Oilers are in shambles beyond Nurse and Larsson.

that was a real bad year, and we compounded it by going on a meaningless winning streak at the end.

Is this real life? I mean this has to be fake, no?

1. Well he gave away a competitive advantage.

2. Defensemen have a great deal of influence on offensive production.

They’ve already invested heavily in the position so it might not matter much in the short term, but yeah...

True but you can get great defensemen after the first round. It is much harder to find dynamic offensive talent later though.

What's this referring to?

Desjardins had a broken arm that was on the mend and he re-injured it playing catch with his son. Missed the playoffs and added to the decimation of our D ranks that had Sami Kapanen playing D.

Between that issue and Weinrich being shipped off just for financial reasons, we could have had the depth on D to go all the way that year.

Not arguing that but sometimes the forward on the board isn’t as good as the defenseman on the board and by boxing yourself in like this, you pass up value. Young top 4 Dmen are still worth Gold.
