When are the 50 year anniversary jerseys being announced? This is where the smart marketing department would announce them right around now, you know drum up some damn interest for your monthly dead period.

Nah not quite yet. If they did it now there is still enough offseason left for the hype to die down again. They need to do it right before the season starts so people go from excited about one thing to excited about the next.

I say mid August would be good, gets some buzz, then the World Cup only 2 weeks after that after the "calm down"

Is there any good book out that is about hockey advanced statistics? Like for example there are multiple books for baseball that Baseball Prospectus writes but I was wondering if anyone knew if they had a book like they for hockey

Rob Vollman from Hockey Prospectus comes out with a yearly Abstract, but the 2015 update was digital only. He does have a new book coming out in September.

Other than that, the closest you can generally come is reading research papers and/or watching videos from Sloan, the Vancouver Hockey Analytics Conference, etc.

Would anyone want to claim Peter Holland?

I think I would and let him and Cousins compete for the #3 C spot.

Paced for 34 points last year. Paced for 33 the year before.

Cousins paced for 25.

Looks like Versteeg is heading to Swiss.

Looks like Kris Versteeg's playing career is taking a different path. He's expected to sign with Bern in Swiss League this wknd.

Holland must not play any defense. No other explanation for an only 25 year old former 15th overall pick with good size being discarded.

Cousins got a lot less PP time, though. 161 minutes for Holland, 15 for Cousins.

Seeing all those Toronto fans says he's slow and below average defensively and on faceoffs, doesn't really kindle my interest. I'm pretty happy with the 15 forwards we already have.

Lol....what bad is that this made me look at our team just 2 years ago:

Vinny: done
Timonen: done
Meszeros: done
Downie: no contract
Grossmann no contract
Schenn no contract
Gustafsson: done
Hall: done
McGinn: done?
Talbot: done
Rosehill: done
Newbury: done
Gill: done
Akeson: NHL career done

Plus we had Rinaldo and VDV.

Just awful

We should be all over this. Kid can play imo and the risk is minimal. Sign him to a one way deal and if he doesn't make the cut you put him on waivers

Pretty much all of those guys were considered replacement level players toward the end of their tenure with the Flyers. Some were even older players with known short shelf life.

To be fair, the Flyers are also where some nearly dead careers go to be saved (Mason and Del Zotto).

I would say Schultz to a degree as well. He looked like he was on his way to ending up out of the NHL before coming here after Edmonton & Columbus.

Sure add him too, but I was more thinking of bigger changes. Mason and Del Zotto were almost out of the NHL and now we have a nearly elite starter and a top pair defensemen.

Glad he's basically as far away from Brayden as possible... since we obviously know that Brayden+Luke is bleh and Brayden-Luke is beast.

The Coyotes now have three of the Flyers biggest salary albatrosses from the start of the 14-15 season (Grossmann, Schenn, Pronger) on their roster lol.
