What if Montreal wins?
Everyone will need a Gustafsson
What if Montreal wins?
Or paying goalies $10M+.Then maybe copycat teams will get way more serious about giving young players a shot.
Or paying goalies $10M+.
Interestingly, Carey Price is the first player making $10M+ to win a series in the salary cap era. There are only 13 players currently making $10M+ and three play for the Leafs, two play for LA and two play for Chicago. Two of those teams paid their stars after they won something.

Fleury and Vasilevskiy make $7M+, too.I think he, Lundquist, and Quick are the only goalies making 7 or more to do anything in the playoffs too

It's really about a Norris level Dman.I haven't been plugged in recently, but I wonder if Vegas winning a Cup would do anything to budge the idea that you need elite Centers to win.
Winning or losing a Finals shouldn't be the deciding factor, but that's often how it works.

was Vasilevskiy making 9.5 last year? Add him to the list

Did any have Sanheim-Ghost?Did any of those teams have a Provorov-Joes pairing though?

Since 2006, only Pitt has won a cup without a Norris level Dman on their team, and he was in 2016...hurt in 2017. But when you have 2 of the top 5 C in the world... Anyways, here is the list.

No. Big teams win the CUP.Did any have Sanheim-Ghost?
It's easy to say you don't need one....but the SC winners all do have one.I don't know if you need a Norris level D-man, but since top D-men play 25+ minutes a night in the playoffs, they tend to have a greater impact than top centers.
Big and skilled usually beat small and skilledNo. Big teams win the CUP.

Having an “above average” top 6/4 does not make you a contender. It makes you above average.
But having a good to great system in place and having it executed well is just as important or moreIt's really about a Norris level Dman.
