I'll change my vote. Auston is just straight up unstoppable this year. Barkov plays like top-5/10 player in the game, but Matthews plays like top-3.
still waiting to see one from youThis is the first intelligent post I have seen from Fluff. Well done. It took you long enough
This poll is a prime example of just how f***ing atrocious this forum has become.
Alex Barkov over Auston Matthews...okay kids.
poll results have really lost a lot of stock to me.Or how Dubas lost a poll to Benning as who is a better GM lmfao.
You take away his shot, you neutralize him in playoffs.I'll change my vote. Auston is just straight up unstoppable this year. Barkov plays like top-5/10 player in the game, but Matthews plays like top-3.
Lol genius. Why hasn't anyone tried to stop Matthews from scoring. You take away his shot, you neutralize him in playoffs.
"player no shoot puck, player no score, we win game"Lol genius. Why hasn't anyone tried to stop Matthews from scoring.

Also one of a select few players in this era that get the chance to post 9-7-16 in 8 games against Ottawa including 8-4-12 in 4 home games with hand picked matchups. Hard to compare this year to a normal NHL season.Even if Barkov is the total package. Matthews is scoring at a pace that barely seen in this era.
Well we could go back and include last years totals as well, but that would be even worse for Barkov sooo...maybe we should just stop the excuses. Also one of a select few players in this era that get the chance to post 9-7-16 in 8 games against Ottawa including 8-4-12 in 4 home games with hand picked matchups. Some people call excuses by another name: "context". Matthews is a phenomenal goal scorer playing with elite linemates but we don't need to reach for some misleading comparisons to exaggerate that. Take out Ottawa (who is allowing the 2nd most GA/GP in the 21st century) and Matthews is pacing for 98.Well we could go back and include last years totals as well, but that would be even worse for Barkov sooo...maybe we should just stop the excuses.
Ottawa is allowing the 2nd most GA/GP in the last 20 seasons. Detroit is allowing the 2nd most in their own 8 team division in 2021. I think your math is off.Agreed, it's just like Florida getting to play Detroit 9 times a year.

Barkov is pacing for....98. With guys the Leafs didn't even want on their AHL team in Carter Verhaeghe and Mason Marchment on the wings. Playing elite defense.
It's ok to acknowledge context.
My context is throwing out an outlier. This is a common process in data analysis. So context to you is take out the games from 1/5 of the games in the season just to match Barkov's totals? Those are excuses.
Matthews has had at least one multi-goal game against every team in the North Divison. Every team. His consistentcy is what sets him apart not the beating up on weaker teams.
I'm just curious if you play in the nhl? Because the people who voted on the espn poll said Matthews' is ahead of barkov. So context or excuses, you can think whatever you want. But it just seems ridiculous that you believe to know more than those in the league... .contextSome people call excuses by another name: "context".
