Shouldn't really judge or expect anything for a couple years, really.

Yes some goalies do take time to develop but it also isn't uncommon for first year AHLers to show a lot more success. .883 says he is overmatched at this level and he risks getting bumped to the taxi squad by the next shiny thing if he doesn't have something more next year. I am hoping he can be like Reimer who showed little his first year pro except for a 6 game tear with the ECHL Stingrays and then broke out in year two. Still a prospect but well behind 20 year old Antoine Bibeau or Sparks for instance.

Abruzzese's NCAA season isn't over. He'll at least be playing a best of 3 at home against St. Lawrence next weekend and those statistics will be recorded in his season totals.

ECAC scoring champ if he can hang on. :thumbu:

Brazeau with 4 goals

I haven't watched him for awhile and I wonder if there's a noticeable improvement in his skating as season has progressed

@Growler, has he improved in that area?

Brazeau was one of those Free Agents that I was interested in and was thrilled to see the Leafs sign him.

I know he’s got a long way to go but if he could ever work his way into a 4th line player he would absolutely bring size that we lack.

Really pulling for him to develop...

One thing i have noticed about brazeau is that he’s relatively consistent at scoring. It is usually a point per game. His 4 goals is shocking but he was due for a big game.

I wonder if Duszak gets some NHL time next year.

He'll be 23, and by that age, you should be getting at least a cup of coffee in the NHL.
I'll admit I've only seen him live a couple times, but it immediately stands out how terrible he is defensively... Intriguing offensive skills, but he looked to me like a less-refined version Hollowell.

Bringing up his age is a good point though, and it highlights that there generally is a pretty limited window for these NCAA pick ups. If they don't have "it" at 21-24, it can be hard to argue/expect that they really have that much more room for improvement.

He's got one more year on his contract after this, but then will be an RFA. Not sure what his waiver eligibility may be by then, but despite his advanced age, I suspect he's still very much a longer term project...

Speaking of age...
Got my first full look at Abruzzese last night against RPI.

He's one of the smallest prospects i've seen in our system. It's not even that he's short, he looks physically less developed than 2015 Marner with a 12 year old baby face.

Commenters kept raving about him as a superstar freshman and even though his line had an off game, you can tell the elite skill is there. Honestly looks like Johnny Gaudreau with less straight line speed and its no surprise that Harvard boasts one of the best PP's in the nation because it runs through Abruzzese.

A lot of areas in his game need improvement, though. He's many years away. Could see him facing similar problems that Bracco went through.
I'm sure we're all aware, but there should be some handicapping of Abruzzese due to his age. Turns 21 this summer, so his production should perhaps be judged more relative to sophomores/juniors than a freshman.

Having said that... his production has certainly met that bar this year!

Excellent results so far, but I'd be worried if he needs to take the full four years at Harvard. Maybe needs some time to bulk up and thus it's a good that he can be 'sheltered' a bit in the NCAA rather than being 'forced' into the AHL/ECHL next year if he was playing in the CHL, but you would hope he's ready for the pros in a couple years.

For both cases above, think how we're all very aware to remind everyone what Sandin and Liljegren have accomplished so early in the AHL. So, just suggesting we be consistent in judging our older prospects too!
