Yeah it's really a risk/reward thing for me. Obviously I'm not as invested as ya'll since it's just a fantasy team, but I wanted to make sure my thinking that the risk/reward factor skewed too heavily towards risk and to take the pick.

Feel like this should be a required monthly viewing for some around here:

Incredible vision, passing ability and hands on display from a 6'6 center.

With Brown it's always been a question of how bad he wants it. If he matures, starts putting more effort in and stops getting injured, #1 center potential isn't out of his reach.

Let's not give up on him just yet. Reward could be massive.

Lots of raw ability thats for sure. If he puts it all together he can be a player.

I have a bad feeling Brown gets traded.

It's a mystery that the team is talking up Norris that much and even mentionning him to Dadonov but not Brown. Dorion and Mann also talked about Norris but not Brown. It's just very odd.

People here complain we don’t have enough skilled players. We have this 6’6” ultra skilled Center who has succeeded at every level and people want him traded before he gets a chance.

Yes, some people just aren’t smart.

Sticky that video

Well, he's entering his D+5 season so arguably chances are not what he's been missing

The best case scenario for Ottawa is Brown panning out. But that's up to Brown, not Ottawa

It would be nice if he took Chris Schwartz’s calls rather than thinking Daddy knows more. Maybe he’s turned a corner in the last 2 months and started taking training properly.

Does he not engage with the Senators training staff?

He is not the easiest to work with. The development coaches reach out to most prospects weekly, not sure of the cadence with training staff. Getting through to Logan is a challenge as Jeff has different ideas or philosophy on training and development. Jeff apparently gives an entitlement vibe. I shouldn’t say Logan isnt putting in work, he is just not doing what the team is asking hence Daddy knows best. I honestly believe he might be better off in Ottawa than Belleville this year so he can be de-programmed so to speak.

EDIT: meant to say it’s not like Logan isn’t putting in work it’s just not the work being asked of him.

Tkachuk - Logan - Daddy

this could be an unreal line

Yup; I believe the same thing. L.Brown passes the puck a lottttttt like Huberdeau and Dadonov is a gorgeous finisher in the slot and around the net. Tkachuk is a banger.

We must try Brown between those two. If those two dont get him going, nothing else will(that we can afford to surround him with currently).

I can't see how Logan Brown will not be a NHL player. His hockey IQ, vision, passing ability, hands, shot, etc, his overall skill-set is comfortably above average. His floor is a lesser version of prime Spezza. He won't ever be a prime Getzlaf, that's not his game. His game is all around vision and finesse. IMO you need all kind of players to have the right recipe. It's ok if they aren't all playing like a Tkachuk

That kind of player needs to be surrounded by skill to be efficient and we are in the process of adding a lot more skill so just need a bit more patience

Hopefully he's still in the plans. If not, another team will gladly take him off our hands.

What would be the motivation given the sens current roster situation. I dont see any whatsoever.

I think from an offensive stylistic stand point he is alot like Getzlaf without the physical edge.

Maybe he asked for a trade he complained of his treatment through his agent over a year ago and nothing has moved forward for him.

I mean sure he could have but thats not a motivator for this team. They have a massive hole in the middle of the ice, they have invested 11th OA and a 3rd rounder for him and years of development blocking other players. I just dont see it happening until he completley busts and they get a late round pick for him.

I'm not saying I would trade him, but you have to think it's suspicious that nobody talks about Logan Brown when he's clearly right there and he should likely be the favourite to hold a spot out of camp.

Anisimov, White, Tierney and then all they talk about is Norris. So I guess Brown plays in the A?

Maybe they're not talking about him because they want him to start listening to them and not his dad?

To me I see two decent comparisons for L Brown.

First, is Jason Allison. A big not so fleet footed center who spent perhaps too much time in the AHL before hitting the show, but when he did ended up as a high end scoring line center who drove a line for many years, including several point-per-game seasons. He was D+5 before he finally become more than a depth guy and broke out and a big part of that was opportunity. But he was a force until injuries took him down many years later.

The other route is a local one with Radek Bonk. A totally single purpose offensive player when drafted, Bonk had a tough go until he embraced the two way game under Jacques Martin. It was 6 years in the NHL before he broke 40 points (he hit 60) after spending a few years learning to be a checking center. While it doesn't seem intuitive to have a big slow center as a two-way guy, guys like Bobby Holik, Joel Otto and many others were the prototype back in the day, and with his strength and reach, Brown could be a real two-way force if he took this on as an identity. While we haven't seen the inclination on this from Brown, that's mostly because he's been refining his offensive game at the pro level like Allison did and has been expected to be a scoring guy at the AHL level. If he could spend a year on a 3rd or 4th line in Ottawa becoming a solid two-way player (while getting spot PP duty given his passing), this could be the path forward for him.

Either way, skills are there and patience will be rewarded IMO.

I hope they are patient. So much skill. I also hope he comes in , in the best condition of his life.

this is the best case for everyone. What Ottawa needs most is a 2nd Kobe cemetery who’s big, can use his wingers and play around the net. He just has to come in, start fast and don’t let up.

Brown just needs to stay healthy this year. Then we'll see exactly where he's at. If he's open to being coached there's no reason to believe he can't be, at least, a good PP specialist in the NHL. He has reach, vision and a very underrated shot (should he choose to use it).

I just don't know that coaches can get through to this guy. Hopefully a full season with the coaches properly motivating him will get him to listen.

You need to be a rare f..ing stud to be able to compete at 1C against the like of Crosby,McDavid ,Eichel,Barkov,McKinnon, etc
You have to be ON every seconds of your shift
Don't feel like Brown is that kind of player
See More Stützle I think at 1C if he plays C
