His line scored another late goal, but with 6 seconds left Örebro tied it up.
FBK won it in OT.
His assist was a quick dish just inside the faceoff circle down low close to the net, a nice sideways play. The coaches trust him in all situations and he continues to improve. Looking good!
The main thing he does so much better now is making all those little plays instead of holding on to the puck along the boards and losing it.

What’s the word on him coming to Iowa/St. Paul? Be a very surprise if he becomes a player. Middle 6 is so stale …

The finals in the SHL is finished around the first week of May, don't know how much season Iowa has left at that point.

Both the organization and he have hinted at a goal of being in IA next season. I expect that’s where he ends up, though his current situation certainly isn’t bad. I do think they want him getting NA pro experience though and wouldn’t be shocked if he did get looks with the Wild as early as next season.

As much as the SHL is just fine as a league, playing in the AHL will make him eligible for NHL call ups next year. That will be appealing for both MN, and Ohgren.

I thought just recently that he should stay another year in Sweden, but now I'm not so sure anymore. Seems to me that his game has improved enough for him to take the big step next year.
Now, I really don't think Iowa is the greatest place to develop players. Just from the few snippets I've seen from their games and the excellent reports posters in here shared.
But I get it, being there opens up for callups and all that stuff.
Depending on how the rest of his season turns out, maybe it is the right move for him after all.

From what highlights I've seen from Ogreen he's another MOJO.
They look eerily similar whilst skating but that’s about where the comparisons end. Ohgren is grittier, stronger and should be a better defender but doesn’t have Mojo’s raw speed or zone-entry ability. Mojo has some amazing wheels for a guy in his 30s TBH

Not sure I see it because of the many items you listed. Ohgren is slower, more physical, a shooter, a great board battler, loves to drive to the net - essentially opposite in every single way besides being Swedish.

Agreed but his stride and Mojo’s are oddly similar. he’s moving slower but looks like Mojo. Strictly a comparison on their posture and skating technique, not their overall games

Game day is goal day. He scored a third period goal, speeding over the blue line he fired a shot through the defenders legs, just a stride over the line, and it sailed straight up top right corner. His line had a +3 game today, and he provided the traffic up front on another goal . Plus some shorthanded work.
4 shots on goal, 17.56 TOI
Point streak is now 4+3 in 6 games

Added another apple today. Continues his strong 2-way play and is so much stronger on the skates now. Doesn't fall over all of the time, is quick and closes the gap nicely when pressuring on the forecheck. His assist was really nice on the first goal. They won a tight game on the road against the third placed team. He is so confident and reads the play very well.

He scored 2 goals and assisted on another for a 3 point night. His line was +3 again, and he scored the game winning goal with 5 minutes left.
He assisted on the first goal 3 minutes in, scored his first at 10 minutes in the second period.
Solid play all around goes without saying. So impressive.

His first goal was a nice redirection, he took position in front of the goalie.

The second was a takeaway just outside the blue line, and all alone with the goalie he shot it five hole.

The assist was a nice backhand behind the net after he won a race to the puck.

He looks really good right now.

6+5 in his last 9 games!

Ohgren currently has better PPG than any other U21 forward in SHL, including his former linemates

Obviously he has less games due to injury though.

He's turned it around offensively pretty significantly since coming back from the injury and WJC. Hopefully this translates to the NHL.

He is 4th in junior scoring despite playing a lot fewer games than the others.

These are copypasted from stats.swehockey.se
Click on "SHL" in the "tournament in progress" tab, and then on the left side click on "player stats"
and it opens up further choices.
You can select stats back to the 2000-2001 season if you want.
He´s got 49 shots in 24 games, so 2 shots/game

His scoring pace has gotten real. @Sweetnut Do you think he needs another year in the SHL, would he be able to contribute in the NHL next year, or do you think it's too close to call?
