The second season of Fargo is not nearly as good as the first one IMO. There, I said it.

I know it's only four episodes in, and it has some nice things going for it (fantastic split screen editing in the last episode), but it lacks the great cast of the first one (Freeman & Thornton killed their roles) as well as the story-line is moving at a glacial pace with some considerable filler to it IMO. And where the heck is my dry, dark humor? That well has seemingly dried up as well.

Hopefully it picks up during its second half, but so far I can't help but be disappointed.

What does everyone else think?

I agree it's not as good, but I like it. The last episode picked up the pace with the declaration of war by the mother of the gangster clan and the butcher and his wife cracked me up. It should be better going forward.

I agree, it should be better moving forward - it has to be.

I don't want to make the second season sound awful, because it's not, but the first season had me 10 minutes into its first episode and never let go. Here I'm still not into the story nearly half way through.

It (season 2) makes me feel like it's riding the coattails of its predecessor based on reputation alone among viewership. I don't think there are many out there who objectively look at what season two is all by itself. It's not much more than "meh" or "decent" so far IMO.

Not going to lie, I'll watch it.

Same but I just find the visuals distracting. Like the Orcs from the Hobbit which looked so chincy compared to the ones in LOTR. Probably why I couldn't get into the Hobbit.

I like to feel immersed in these sorts of movies and if the world is too fake and unbelievable, I have a hard time getting into it.

Spectre was okay. Some really neat actions scenes(train scene was one of my favourite bond fights I think) and a great opening. I didn't much like where the story went or how they used christoph waltz though. Also, too many bond tropes IMO.

What does "and then nope" even mean?

Sounds like you're making the mistake of assuming your personal opinions of reflective of anything more than...your personal opinions.

All I'm saying is people should make up their own mind about what's good or not good.

Doesn't mean cause a lot of people liked Star Trek that it means that it was good. A lot of people liked Jurassic World and Transformers 4 and it was dumb.

Let have those same people go on a discussion about Visconti....

So...after Banshee and Magic City I finally had a new TV crush and it's called:

Penny Dreadful. (which I bought as a DVD set)

For those who had been waiting for a old school classic monsters TV show, it has finally come together. It is League of Extraordinary Gentlemen done right with a ton of gore, sex, and really good writing.

Right off the bat, the cast won me over with:

-Eva Green as a dark haunted woman with mysterious powers.

-Timothy Dalton(my favorite Bond) as a former adventurer and explorer.

Both characters are pretty much what Mina Harker and Alan Quatermain should have been like in live action.

Oh and Victor Frankenstein and is part of their crew of misfits. There's also his creature, werewolves, vampires. There's also Dorian Grey and maybe Jack the Ripper. Most of it almost done right.

Green is fantastic in this, even though she's been good in a lot of stuff(such as Casino Royale), I think Penny Dreadful is the role of her career, seems crazy to say this but she goes through so much stuff, I don't think she's ever been pushed this much before.

As for Dalton, I think it's good comeback, a return to form.

Anyway, check it out. (there's a ton of sex!)

You're damn right Kimota. Penny Dreadful is an excellent show and Eva Green is superb in her role. The seance scene was masterful.

I finally got around to seeing mommy and I must say, it was excellent. Like one of the better films I've seen in some time.

I wanted to check out his other films but all of them seem to share a very similar series of character arcs. Not sure i want more of that. Thoughts?

Pretty sure it's way more complicated to turn actors into an army of huge orcs vs doing it on a cpu..

I remember buying warcraft 1: orcs vs humans (?) back when I was little, then I played warcraft 2 on Kali network and TEN, and then playing the battlenet edition in ranked as well, hardcore mods like DotA:RoC and All*, WoW, Etc... but man does that movie look like it's ****. And it has one of my favourite actors in it too, the "guy" from Vikings... bleh... *end rant*

Okay so best undisputed actor in the world right now? My vote is Jake Gyllenhaal. I don't recall a bad movie by him, ever. Donnie Darko being my favourite.

Only actor that comes close CURRENTLY but has lost some shine over the years, would be Leo Dicaprio. IMO obviously :).

Right now? IMO I can't really give you an undisputed but a list that never really let me down even in bad movies would be Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling, Joel Edgerton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Joaquin Phoenix, Oscar Isaac and Leo Dicaprio. (This list was longer than I thought it would be)

As much as I like Gyllenhaal none of them hold a candle to Daniel Day Lewis. His range is just incredible.

Why woul you compare an Uruk-Hai to an Orc?

Yeah you really missed the point.

They did it for LOTR which did not have that high of a budget and came out over a decade ago. I'm sure they could have done it for this. You just need some good makeup artists.

I always have a reaction when I see people still ask for channels for watching tv shows, it happens so rarely around me.

I don't know anyone IRL who watches TV series via conventional television anymore.

I pay for what I watch so I always have a reaction where some may not.
