Reimer stole this game for the Leafs, was the biggest reason they made the playoffs last year, was the biggest reason they came back from the dead to almost make it a few years ago, but look for a hoard of idiots to crap all over him the next time he has a bad game.

Yup. James Reimer is awesome.

S what did Kessel do? Give a rookie the empty netter and if so, who? (Wasn't watching)

net was empty.

raymond carried the puck past the center ice line.

raymond shot / pass / dumped the puck in, aiming for the empty net.

it would have basically been a perfect pass to kessel, and kessel could have shot it into the net.

but kessel realized that no one was around and that the puck would go in the net without him touching the puck.

kessel basically escorted the puck into the net without touching it.

raymond gets the goal.

it was an unselfish play, and also showed good awareness on kessel's part.

I was a wee little one at that time, so I don't remember then (actually I didn't even know Toronto had a hockey team. my daddy was all about baseball, so I was all "touch them again joe!" (for WEEKS).

so if this is true.... we go far this year.

Add a quality D man, and yes, a long way.

Gardiner played 22 minutes tonight. Only Dion played more tonight. Ranger and Gardiner quietly had a decent game. They've been getting better as a pairing the past few games.

That's funny considering how much the leafs commentators were talking about how Rielly is stealing Gardiners minutes.

I'll do it for you grant:

Leafs open up the scoring (Bozak - PP)
Smith scored again (beauty pass by Rielly), he was the 900th leaf to score.
Pommenville scored (end of the period on a PP).

then Raymond scored. (very JVResque)
then Raymond again.

we got outshot 18-3 in the first period (5 powertplays for minny).
then more outshots. in the second.
the first period in this game was the first time all season we carried a lead into the 2nd period.

Anyone else watch the Minny feed, and laugh every time they called Phaneuf "Pha-noof"

Leivo looks good, still needs seasoning in the AHL but kids a player .. Same goes for Broll... Both should be fun to watch on the Marlies when the Leafs get healthy

Definitely some big tests coming up.. The Leafs need some jump in their forecheck to sustain pressure .. Asides from the Edmonton game, they've collapsed well in front of the net and played solid D

.. So who gets the next start in nets?? ;)

If Kessel ends up with 39 or 49 goals this year I sure hope the "realists" remember this game. That was a cool moment for this team. Just goes to show how little the players actually care about personal stats or any stats in general just the WIN.

Dude's got his contact. Now he's helping Mason... Actually, I'd be more shocked if he would have tapped it in. Would have been cheap, iomo.

Plus it's gets him a moment on HBO!

So apparently Reimer feels like he can do better

‏@jonasTSN1050
Despite 37 saves, James Reimer says he didn't feel as sharp as he would've liked tonight.

This is good.

I love our goalie situation.

Anything think Reimer will get back to back starts?
