You forgot declining.

Doesn’t fit with either Sid or Geno and you locked him up 5x5 with a NTC. Yuck

So hard for people to let go, too emotional. That’s ok, but don’t complain at our race to mediocrity. Think Wings 2012
but he fits with both Sid and Geno. That's one of the best things about him. He fits anywhere. Including with the depth guys.

After those 2 losses to NYI, I thought the Pens would come out with a purpose tonight.

latest

Everything seemed slow-mo, half-assed, and out-of-sync. The line blender didn't help any.

Pens PR would never allow it
We're only cool with people that commit sexual assault obviously. #penshockey

He f***ed up. Rehabilitated himself. Paid his dues. Why not?

Why let Zolnierczyk play? Wasn't he a part of revenge porn?

Why sign Tibbetts? Statutory rape is cool?

Mario was supposedly in a room when rape occurred, only cool if you have enough money and the right agents to shush things away?

I don't care if he does or doesn't get back in the NHL. But the high horse shit is comical.

Held off as long as I could. Officially concerned about Murray. Can't defend hok at this point.

Murray was the only reason this wasn't a 10-0 game. Literally how anyone could choose *THIS* game to bring up Murray's play is beyond me.

-----

That was just a horrible, horrible display. No jump, no energy, no drive. And that defense is just a shit show.

Efforts like tonight are what frustrates me to no end. Tuesday versus the Islanders was about "no puck luck". Tonight was about no effort or desire to win battles.

What a waste of a Saturday night.

Love Horny for what he brought.

Big picture it was time to get aggressive and move on.

I don't disagree on getting aggressive, but not sure letting Horny walk for nothing makes a ton of sense. Horny is a valuable asset on the ice and as a trade chip if they really want to shake things up.

Your general point is fair though. Sometimes it's hard to make trades and free agency is a crapshoot. JR was aggressive and got JJ and that looks to be a terrible move.

It does look like Horny has a locked ntc for 3 years though.

He submits an 8 team no trade list. That's not that restrictive. I don't want to trade him anyway, just saying if they needed to, they could and would get value for him.

I find the comments after these games complete bs...and they sidestep real personnel issues and lack of mesh of players that the team has...after the Isles game we hear “the players are trying too hard, the effort was there but they just aren’t playing smart”...then tonight, it’s “the effort wasn’t there”...

So, what you’re saying is the team is stupid and lazy, just rarely at the same time, lol (fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go thru life son)....the real problem imo is that we (still!) lack quality depth scoring on our bottom two lines...if G or Sid isn’t carrying the team like in 2013, then our bottom two lines can chip in nothing...there are some good players there but Rust, Sheahan, Brass before injury, Cullen etc have contributed little (Cullen in particular looks a step slow)...we have more depth scoring from defense...the bottom pairing defense, too, lack quick decisions and mobility with the puck (we miss a Daley) and that’s exacerbating the lack of depth scoring....

So there are personnel issues and issues with the way the coaching is putting the combos together and how they’re playing together ....yet all we hear is about the effort...either they don’t want to address the real issues with the fans or they want to bury their heads in the ice...

Guys look at the bright side. The rest of the Metro (minus NYI apparently?) is even more shit than us. I mean Washington's 5-4-3 and have allowed 4 goals per game. Columbus is about to lose 4-1 to LA (LOL) and drop to 7-6-0. Philly's 6-7-0. Carolina's back to .500 after their hot start. Ditto for NJD.

We're not the only team failing to bring it consistently. Win in 2 days and we're tied for 1st. Sky's not falling yet.

Anyone writing off the Hornqvist contract based on 12 games:

Wrong..... I said it was a terrible idea before the end of last season. It could work if other substantial trades are made, but I think it was a terrible decision. The team needed to get younger and faster

Laugh away, but the Pens are getting outskated nearly every game and their puck possession is also lacking.

Hahahahahaaha

Sully's "we didn't play the right way" cliche after horrible efforts is starting to sound a lot like Bylsma's "we didn't get to our game" mantra.

So your mind was clearly already made up...just before Horny performed in the playoffs - like he always does - and finished 3rd in team scoring ahead of Malkin and Kessel.

If anything, we need more players like Hornqvist (who will battle and drive to the net to score the dirty goals), not less. This team when it plays like tonight, doesn't make the opposition goalie's job very difficult. As long as the opposing goalie can save shots from 20 feet out, he'll feast on this team with the lack of guys who'll get their nose dirty.

Missed the game due to rather watch UFC with some work buddies then watch Pens game alone. Looks like it was a good thing I missed the game.

They needed to make changes the offseason after their last cup. Perfect timing, playing with house money.

Two years later and the best move made was for big rig. Team lost its identity and the stars will have a hard time carrying the load consistently. This isn’t 2013.

How often does a team change what made it successful immediately after winning a championship?

I feel like you pop up every so often to offer the same arguments, you receive the same rebuttals, and then you disappear again. It's strange--your posts give the impression that you care more about being perceived as "right" than you care about the team actually winning games.

Sprong had another strong game. Puck seems to follow him when he's on the ice. Too bad he hardly ever sees the ice.
Sully had the prime opportunity to put him with Hags and Geno for a spark and didn't. It's like he's actively ignoring anything that kid does at this point, out of spite for JR basically saying he's gonna be a regular.
