Awful, if you're not shooting 103.6784582x8547z already in the NHL, you're a bust.

I remember when Chad Kilger registered a shot at 106.6 at the Leafs skills competition

In 2004, Nathan Perrott won the hardest shot and fastest skater at the Leafs skill competition. He scored 4 goals in his 89 game NHL career. Today, he's a firefighter and amateur boxer.

While I completely agree with the idea, al iafrate is an atrocious example of that. In a 7 year span through his prime, he was top 20 in NHL dmen scoring 5 times. And had several 20 goal seasons. Top 10 in the NHL. Top 5 a couple of years. Two of those top 10. And the 2 years he missed, were both injury shortened seasons for him. That's a terrible example of a dman scoring like a plumber. Were you unaware iafrate was a dman?

Maybe referring to end of Iafrate's career? He was not very sharp in the end of career.

I don't see the big deal with having a hard clapper from the hashmarks. High velocity, accurate, quick release wrist shot to me is way more of a useful tool than being able to bomb a clapper from 15 feet away.
I'd be more interested to know what the speed of his wrist shot is

care to explain why not? :D

Well that's from the top of the left circle, not at the hasmarks, dead center. Shot placements is also key too, not just the velocity. That particular goal was off the far post and also had the goalie moving from left to right. Great goal scorer have a quick release and good accuracy along with being able to shot at a high velocity.
I still really would like to know what his wrister is clocked at cuz he has a damn good shot. Same with OV

anyone who doesn't think faster than light travel is possible clearly hasn't seen Laine's shot by the time he's 30

When the game starts its already over because laine scored 10 by then.

mike fisher shot 105 at ottawas camp one year

and then a few years later zibanejad beat that with 106

so we will see if someone actually does something at the real nhl skills comp
As has been pointed out multiple times before, Laine has already broken 101 twice as an 18 year old at the NHL skills competition. Seems very reasonable that he broke 103 now.

whats the point here

zibby was 21
Seems pretty reasonable that he could improve his strength and shot since then. It's not like he jumped 10mph or something. This seems like a totally normal progression path for a young player.

Which NHL skills competition did Zibanejad hit 106 at? Laine broke 101 twice at the NHL skills comp. And there's a pretty huge difference between 18 and 21 for most people.

Looks like the puck is placed closer to the net then the one used in the allstar game.
