Good news all our players put through waivers cleared. Only one more round of waivers to deal with.

Yeah, the next round will be the tough one.

Not necessary. Remember the waiver draft at this point only has so few claims. Chances are higher some other teams waiving their players will have better players than what we are waving.

As its been mentioned teams claiming players have to put them on their NHL roster. They can't just put them to the AHL team.

The bigger issue for teams is when they take players off the IR/LTIR and they don't have a roster spot for them like their replacement player spent more than the league allows for call ups to the point they have to be waived to be sent back down.

The biggest problem for us is that we only have 2 signed players that are waivers exempt: Daccord and Henman. This makes sense because we have had only 1 draft and no prospect pool to speak of. Unfortunately, it does put us into a very bad position and vulnerable to losing those players when the inevitable injuries occur.

All teams have that issue when it comes to their AHL/ECHL players that aren't exempt.

The bigger issue still remains for the claiming team they need to have a NHL roster spot open to claim that player.

Yes. But not all teams are expansion teams and they have AHL rosters with players on ELC's that are waiver exempt AND can be called up without fear of losing them. We only have 2 such players.

Our current 'prospect' pool for call-ups is pretty much players we acquired in the expansion draft and most of them are NOT waivers exempt.

Point remains the same.... They need to have a roster spot open to claim a player.

There are a couple guys that’ll be cut that’ll be pretty good options for several teams.

Same thing can be said about other teams too. There is a reason there really aren't that many claims at the waiver draft prior to the start of the season.

People were saying Cale fleury was gonna get claimed guess what he didn't.

Whats crazy Clague cleared waivers.

It puts a little perspective on the MacDermid pick.

I'm not too surprised to be honest. It feels like D prospects that had a ton of points in juniors, but are inadequate defensively at the AHL level are dime a dozen these days. Seems to be almost exclusively what major Juniors are churning out. Two way defensmen are still rare, but the defensive defenseman, which used to be the description for the majority of D being developed, have become increasingly rare, and their value is at an all time high right now.

I think Anaheim loses Guhle tonight. That is a much bigger surprise for me than Clague.

I think the argument was in the Donato thread that if the team carries 14 forwards, they are likely going to lose a defenseman to waivers, and that still stands.

We also assumed the team would play him a lot in preseason to evaluate what they had. He played 15 minutes in the entire preseason with zero PP time.

He's a two-way right shot physical defenseman with half a season of NHL experience. His position and skillset alone make him an intriguing prospect. If the Kraken gave him the minutes they gave his brother or Borgen and he has one good game, there is a strong chance someone takes him off waivers.

I don't think anyone had Carrick ahead of Fleury in the depth chart, yet he got more ice time than Fleury and a lot of PP time.

Fleury has played 22 games in the past 19 months due to covid limiting the league. Add the fact that management held him out of preseason to limit his exposure to other teams scouts - smart move, but a bit brutal for the kid.

we can waive Cholowski and Lauzon, i don't think they impressed that much to where either would get claimed.

Its the waiver draft not many players get claimed at all. People were throwing out that Cale Fleury would get claimed guess what it didn't happen.

Now you are just being obtuse claiming that lauzon wouldn't get claimed.

How do you know that he will be claimed? You don't.

Lauzon played top 4 - top 6 minutes on the Bruins last season and is a well regarded young player.

A mediocre showing during two preseason games with a new team and different lineup/different defensive pairing won't change that.

If we waive him, you'll have teams throwing in their hats to claim him imediatly.

Will be interesting to see.

So far the first line would be Schwartz--McCann--Eberle and if they click it would be either on the 2nd or 3rd line for Gourde.

Though, let's first wait and see how the first six weeks of the season go, before Gourde comes back, because that should give us a better idea what line combinations might work or not.
.

Agree, that top line as is needs to stay in tact for now as it's proving to work. All other lines are up in the air. Gourde as our top center but on 2nd line in a role similar to how the Canucks used Ryan Kesler for many years with offense and defense focuses.
