in all seriousness, as a former Canuck, I only wish him the best, but he needs to meet a neurological specialist to check if he is completely mentally healthy. A mentally healthy person would exert more self control than to do what he did. And this is twice when he became unhinged in the course of a game. I know when he was a Canuck he got into enough fights and impacts to his head to warrant concern.

He dodged a bullet, based on his history he should have gotten way more, but he's now in that area where the next time he does something dangerous he's not getting the benefit of the doubt.

Mr Honor the game and respect the code is nothing but a moronic thug that at the end of the day has surpassed guys like Matt Cooke as cancers to the game.

he never done this though

the NHL based this on previous foot "kicking" incidents ie. Skinner's 2 games and Pronger's 8 games

He’s a disturbed individual and I’m praying for him and his family that he uses this time to seek out therapy. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help.

I had this one at 7 based off past incidents and how they ramp up.. it’s not surprising

Ideal world I would like more, preferably a 10 game mandatory suspension for kicking (like leaving bench to start a fight). Skinner suspension only being two games for kicking + appeals process really hurts them in a situation like this where there isn’t much of a precedent for more than 7. His next suspension will be in 15-20 range and knowing his past comments and behaviors I wouldn’t be surprised if it continues although I hope it does not. He’s got a lot to prove now

Imagine how embarrassed the best player in the world is going to feel playing on this guys line now. Poor Connor.
Sorry to disappoint you but his teammates love him and was certainly a reason for his recently signed contract extension.

Cernak got what he deserved. The quality of hockey in the NHL would improve immensely if players committing obstruction fouls were allowed to be kicked in the chest every time they cheated.

I also pray for many human beings sire.

This seven game suspension will make one thing sure: He (Kassian, Zacharias), will never ever kick anyone again, during ice hockey. Lets pray nobody does kick with the razor blade anymore.... they real sharp. Y'all can cut y'allselves even by just putting your finger on it and slishing. It's real bad and very dangerous. Dont kick.

You've got it spot on really, the Skinner suspension really handcuffed them in what they could give and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they add this to the automatic 10 games list over the summer

Sounds about right. Bob McKenzie referenced precedence when talking about it on the radio. Keeping that in mind, double digits would have been too extreme.

Thought it was a fair punishment. I don't think the intent was ill, but he was careless. The league also wants to send a message to others not to be careless with your skates.

Sad we will be without him for 7 games. Basically our entire 1st line is out for the next 2-3 weeks... yikes for our playoff chances.

Woulda preferred longer, but by NHL standards it’s about right. Now they just gotta work on not allowing elbows to the head, crosschecks to the neck, etc.

hoping Kassian learns to deal with his anger, because Jesus was that stupid and awful timing- our best player is out for a bit, we’re fighting for a playoff spot, ima go kick someone. What? No ya f***in goof, keep it in check and help your team get into the playoffs.
